Thank you to all that attended! Congratulations to the winner, Silverhawk79. A fun time was had by all.
So, we're all decided here:
Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2009
Time:: 10:00 PM EST
Location: A different channel of the chat client that NSF uses. If Silver gets it fixed by then, you can use it right from this site. Otherwise, you'll have to use a separate client. I'll have instructions up on Wednesday depending on what path we have to take. Everyone should be able to make it there without a problem, though.
The topic will be random and the prize will be some gift card or something I can give virtually. We will decide on this later, but the winner will receive some sort of something.
I look forward to seeing who will come. In order to plan accordingly, it would be greatly appreciated if you let us know that you plan on coming. A list of planned participants will be included.
Below is a supplement of the rules of Moot Trivia, if you are unfamiliar with them. You may choose to read them, but 95% of the forum likely has been acquainted with them already.
Rules of Holiday Moot Trivia
Standard gameplay works as follows.
All members are open to participate in the first question. Each question is "worth" something:
-Moots: Standard - are used to eliminate other players from the game by muting them in chat.
-Unmoots: Opposite - save others who have been muted. Thus, once you get mooted, you are not necessarily completely out in the game.
-"Shield" - Protects you from one moot.
Others may be introduced as gameplay continues.
Moots work in two basic ways:
-Choice: You choose who is muted.
-List: Based on the chat list, which will be visible to all participants, the winner will automatically moot people based on his/her position on the list. (Ex: 2 up/2 down will eliminate the two people above and below the winning player on the list)
As we eliminate people, there will become an increasingly smaller playing field. The game is over when all but one player have been mooted.
At this point, the whole process starts over. We do this 4 times, usually, though it has been 3 in the past. The winners of all rounds face off in a final round at the end.
IMPORTANT: This is asked year after year. "If I win the first round, do I have to sit out the rest of them?" The answer is no. If one conceivably won all three/four rounds, there would be no final round and they would simply win the event upon completion of the final round. Subsequently, it is possible to just have a smaller final round field if one person wins multiple times.
The winner is the person who is victorious in the final round.
Can someone explain to me again what moot trivia is?

Moot just adds certain questions that, when answered correctly, gives the person who answered correctly the ability to mute a person for the next question.

Ah. That's a nice twist. Maybe I'll join.
I'll do it.
I am definitely in - I should start hosting my trivia again.
Just make sure you aren't at the bar :|
hi kg i missed u
I'll definitely be there; and since it's during the Christmas break, I don't think I'll run in to time issues. Grab bag trivia sounds fun and fair. And as for prizes, I agree that an XBL Points reward would be good.
Since it's Christmas break, any day would probably be fine.
Though a Friday/Saturday would probably be best.
Yeah, I didn't elaborate much, but moot-based trivia basically says that the winner of any given question is able to eliminate others from the game until 1 person remains. It's a knockout format.
@MoM: Yeah, that shouldn't be an issue this time.
@Doodle: Christmas falls on a Friday, and the Friday after is New Years stuff, so some time in the middle would probably work out best.
I'm totally in.
I'll play, of course.
also KG you should post more
;_;
I'll play, I've missed moot.
Bring. It. On. Good thing it's not the 26th, I've been claimed for that day. D:

I guess I can't join then, I'll be on vacation. Tell me how it goes :)
All right, so tentatively I have this:
Monday, December 28 @ 10:00 PM, with the prize being a $20 MSP card. Random topic.
Sound good?
I'm in :3
Oh yeah. :D
Might be a bit early for me, but I'll try to make it.
Date, time, etc. Posted. Please do not be shy to RSVP if you plan on coming! I'd like to get an idea of the attendance.
20 M$ card or Wii points card? :P
Oh, and I'm probably in.
I think I have to work.
Wait...no I don't!
Hooray!
Where the hell you been, KG?
I should be able to make it, but no guarantees.
I'll probably be there
I will hopefully be able to make it.
Sorry guys, I can't make it this year. :(
Can't make it. :(
All the info is in and the game is tonight. I look forward to seeing some of you there!
