Title: WHICH FINE NOVEL SHALL I READ?
Post by: Judas on October 08, 2007, 03:37:46 PM
For my English class, my assignment for the next two weeks is to read a novel, then write a narrative essay/short story. The two things aren't really related.

The novel can be anything of my choice... WHICH ONE SHOULD I READ? Against The Day is quite long (a little more than 1000 pages), but I've heard it's spectacular, and it's one of the only Pynchon books I've not read. Similarly, Lurker At The Threshold is one of the only Lovecraft novels I haven't read. Or, I could read one of Hunter S. Thompson's novels that aren't Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, which I have read.

Against The Day

Long, but worth it. I've not really heard of the other.

If you're into sci-fi, please PLEASE check out this book.

It'll blow your mind.  This and its sequel ("Judas Unchained") are two of the best sci-fi novels (serious ones that is) that I've ever read.

I've nearly exhausted Tolstoy already.  :robotsad:

He's not as good as Dostoevsky, anyway.  :robottongue:
