Well, I got a Xbox 360 for Christmas and was wondering what games you guys would recommend I pick up.

Shooters & Xbox Live:
Modern Warfare 2; It's the most popular game for online play right now.
Halo 3: ODST; Great single player and it also comes with the complete Halo 3 multiplayer stuff.

Single player:
Assassin's Creed I & II; The story in the game is really good. The first one is a "Platinum Hit" so it'll only be around $30.

Racing:
Forza Motorsport 3; so many cars.....

Those are all considered good games. = D

i've found Assassin's Creed for $15 here in Canada, so I'd bet it is even lower than 30 in the states. It is a must buy though.

streety fighter iv is a ton of fun. So is Arkham Asylum. So much fun.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. If you're into fighting games, that is. If not, then... what everyone else said. Except Street Fighter IV. Because if you want SFIV... then get BlazBlue, as it's better. :U

Mass Effect
Bioshock
Modern Warfare 2
Dead Space
The Orange Box
Red Faction: Guerilla
Borderlands
Batman: Arkham Assylum
Fable 2
Fallout 3

Fallout 3 I highly recommend, and games like Bioshock and Mass Effect can be gotten on the cheap.

Well, I know stuff about all the games suggested so far, and they are all good suggestions...except for Blazblue. I might instead save for SSFIV unless I can find it for cheap. Can anyone suggest any XBL arcade games?

Modern Warfare 2
Rockband 2
Beatles Rockband
Guitar Hero 5
Soul Caliber 4
The Orange Box (or, better yet, get it for the PC)
Oblivion
Assassin's Creed 1+2
Bioshock
Fallout 3
Farcry 2
Fable 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
Borderlands
ODST
Street Fighter 4

As for arcade games, the only one I've played is Worms. Excellent game.

I loved Braid. It had a great story too.
It's basically a platformer, but you can rewind time to do certain things and stuff. It's kinda hard to explain, but the demo is worth downloading.

N+ is pretty fun, but you could just play that for free on the internet.

As for actual 360 games..

Dead Rising (Single player only, but way worth it.)
Saint's Row 1 or 2 (If you like GTA, then this will be pretty fun to you.  The 2nd one is better.)
Fallout 3
Rock Band 1 or 2 or The Beatles
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (It's like 10 dollars used, and it's worth that even though it's not as great as the other games in the series)
Assassin's Creed (Again, should be cheap.  It get's really repetitive, so try not to spend too much money on it.  I'm not sure how the 2nd one is.)

Also if you have a hard drive, you best be getting Psychonauts.  It's an original Xbox game and it's one of the best platformers I've ever played.

It all depends on your interests but here's my top 5

Halo 3 ODST *Multiplayer disk is win*
Bioshock *Great first person shooter, it's creepy, got a intresting plot and it overall very very fun*
Dead Space *To me, I found this games replay value very high. I enjoyed the game so much the first time I just had to play it again, and again, and again. It's a great 3rd person shooter, it's scary got a straight forward plot and is very fun*
Viking Battle for Asgard. *This game is a great fantasy warrior game. It has HUGE battle scenes and great combat.*
Left for dead. *No real plot, but get away from the "INFECTED" it's still very amusing to play.*
