So as some of the IRC Chat members know, I recently got a job at a pawn shop, and last night we got three things in that really excite me, and not in the sexual way that Custom does with his large natural tits, I mean in a way that reminds me of the Good Old Days.
That's right, we got a Super Nintendo, an Atari (yes, that one), a Sega Dreamcast, and a classic NES.
Now how much did we pay for these old systems?
Super Nintendo - $50 (w/2 games + one controller + one Nintendo Zapper)
Sega Dreamcast - $50 (w/20 games + one controller + one... Sega... gun thing)
Atari - $80 (w/13 games + two controllers, I think)
NES - $80 (w/5 games + two controllers)
Now, do you think that these prices are even remotely right? Personally, I think we gave them way to much for some of them, but just right for others. IE: The Sega is the only thing priced right. Mind, I don't exactly know how much an Atari system goes for nowadays. :P
What are the games prices at the shop?
An Atari's cost depends on the games it comes with. If it came with games like Asteroids, E.T., Pac-Man, Combat, Donkey Kong, it's worth $60, depending on the model. Early models are worth more than later models. Six switch versions are worth more than four switch ones.
I have a Faicom the first releases with the switch buttons, it's worth like $60. Older systems ain't cheap.
Depends on the console. Selling a TurboGrafx-16, 3DO, or Jaguar for $100 with a few games would be more reasonable than an NES even with games.
Then again, rarity determines cost. An NES lot recently sold for $13,000 on eBay. Had Super Mario Bros. 3, some other cheap game, and Stadium Events in box. Seller had no idea that the version she had was worth $2000 for just the cartridge and somewhere around $13,000 with box and instructions. Stadium Events is the rarest NES game that was actually sold in stores, but was only sold in stores for a very short period.
I actually saw a store around here where the owner found just the manual for Stadium Events and sold it for thousands. Not the game, just the manual.
Had it been sold privately, it would have gone for even more. There also was a factory-sealed Mega Man 1 on eBay recently that I believe went for $5000. What recession?
It really depends on the games.
