Title: Melancholy Mechanics.
Post by: Kilroy on February 19, 2010, 01:56:12 PM

Melancholy (noun): a feeling of thoughtful sadness.

Waking up to this song yesterday morning, I thought of this thread.

NSF, what puts you into a state of melancholy? A better definition for the word might be "a pensive state". Basically, what are your prime conditions for thinking?

Personally,  all I need is music that fits my mood at the time, and I'm set. Cloudy or rainy weather helps a lot as well.

I need music that fits the mood, and with either lyrics that I can't understand or no lyrics(so, game OST's) because song lyrics will spoil my thoughts.
I also prefer to be alone, otherwise I'll end up shutting everything out.
And playing a puzzle game(Planet Puzzle League, Rubik's cube, bejeweled, etc.) seems to help too.

Probably what would set my thoughts standard is a blue moon. Not that alcohol beer or whatever but an actual blue moon as in "being rare".

Music wise, i listen to pretty much anything except country. I'm a very open person and i'm very emotionally affected about people's troubles and feelings. It's as if i feel their troubles in my head as if i was in their shoes.
