So uh, apparently there's a good chance that we won't get mail on Saturday anymore, because they want to save money and lay off a bunch of people. I think it's kind of lame, personally. If there's a package you urgently need, and it should arrive on Saturday, you shouldn't have to wait until the following Monday to get it. Boo, USPS.
Thoughts?
That sucks. I get a lot of packages in the mail, I hate not having Sunday delivery, I don't want to have to wait TWO days to get a package D:
To think that I was going to start ordering stuff online after I got a job.

This is terrible, I'm already mad enough about not getting mail on Sundays. What a bunch of slackers.
Yeah, my Dad has been talking about this a lot. (He's a mail carrier)
But as far as I knew they had dropped the idea.
I saw this on the news today.
Shitsucks. I most expect things to be delivered on Friday or Saturday. I don't like things coming on Monday.
only USPS right? so UPS and such will still deliver...not a big deal

Yes, but actual mail won't deliver on Saturdays.
On top of that, they're laying off a ton of workers. That's never good.

They're laying off a ton of workers who will get a relatively good governmental pension. Compared with other unemployed people, they've got it relatively well off.
I hope they do drop that idea. Mostly because of Netflix.

I asked my Dad about this, here is what is gonna happen if the Postal Service goes through with this.
Well, the guys that are gonna be laid off (or would be, whatever) are the part time guys. All the regular, full-time mailcarriers would keep their jobs. They would no longer work on Saturdays, but their weekday work hours would be increased.

It depends. most of the time (As in what the supervisors put on paper) .... 8 hours, but really they work 10 hour days more often than 8 hour ones,. So my guess is that they'd be working 9-11 hour days if this goes through?

Seems like a fairly good plan, except that mailmen will be making less money now.
Also, wouldn't it be epic if he USPS uses all the money they save to buy everyone dogs that bite mailmen? That'd make it one hardcore job.

Yeah, they'd be losing 8 hours of work. And on top of that they lose overtime.
And you know they give them the pepper spray for the dogs right?

Yeah. Originally it's 8 hours, and when they work 10 they get overtime. Now it's ten normally. :/
Yeah, I heard something of the sort a while ago. But come on, you know it'd be epic to deliver mail with ten pit bulls on your ass.

Around here, they just come in a mail truck, put the stuff in your mailbox, drive to the next house, mail truck > pit bulls
