Title: The Next Nintendo console will be innovative.
Post by: Thirdkoopa on March 12, 2010, 07:04:24 PM
Don't you love indirect announcements? (http://kotaku.com/5492102/the-next-wii-will-innovate-nintendo-would-be-embarrassed-if-it-was-sony-microsoft?skyline=true&s=i)

Speculation and whining shall begin now.

OH HAI!

Nintendo, all I want are these two things:
1: FUCKING ONLINE!
2. Hardware that doesn't suck... please? I just want a system with some freaking processors and an HD output so my games can look nice. Is that too much to ask for?

Just deliver those and I"ll be happy, kthnxbai

Now, if he only knew how to write Japanese...

I'm pretty sure Nintendo is right to do this. I mean, it'd look stale to try to do the same as Sony and Microsoft do (not to mention they look like they're ripping the Wii off). Surely, I think they'll come up with innovation.

...you're perfectly okay with the lack of a hard drive?

I would assume a Hard drive would be intercourse ing standard at this point,
but then again, it's Nintendo. I wouldn't be shocked if they went back to only 2D because they though it was "innovative".
Seriously, they're making how much money on this stuff and they can't afford some decent tech my ass....

If they don't at least add a HDD and HD graphics, I doubt I'll buy it.
...Hell, I will anyways. D:

They can't not do an HDD. Downloadable games are very popular, and their size is quickly growing. If there's no HDD, no one will put their downloadable games on Nintendo's console since it can't hold anything. X_X:;

But then again, Nintendo may be that stupid, so what do I know.

Happened.
Boring.
Not interesting.
Lacks a rant.

But instead I'm not going to rant unless someone asks on request for me to do one on the past (6th gen) now (7th gen) and the future (...This) because If I do I'm going to end out raving in everything in general.

This time If nintendo's going to be innovative I just hope they stabilize more what the hell they are. Seriously, why did they make the VC Controller again when they could've just made an updated gamecube controller? I honestly wonder for a motion system why so many buttons are thrown on the wii like It's nothing. I don't mind innovation since I quite enjoy it most of the time on my DS but they need to really stabilize things next time instead of riding on "lol we're #1 we'll just keep selling wii sports and make other poopty wii ___ games and ride on it"

Next I want to see new IP's, and If you're going to resell another game, try to at least do it to the point where it adds more and superior and different replay value. Sure Galaxy's great but what the hell is the replay value appeal on that? On the other hand, we have Bowser's Inside Story introducing a challenge node. And new IP's while I know they wouldn't be good just for the hell of being new IP's and I know It''s hard to just create something completely original at least try to mix up some genre's. Put some budgeted work into it. Besides we've seen...How many new IP's on the system?

I'm mainly on replay value because It's a huge thing that helps justify the price tag. Why the hell did NSMBWii have to stay in the relm of only having 9 worlds? Nostagliafags?

As for the rest an HD is mandatory even If It's only optional. We also do need something to where you can register with no friend codes and just have the friend codes kept for those family safe people who don't want there kids registering this. I've been saying that for quite a while right now - stupidly Overprotective families partly get there way and we get to intercourse ing not get screwed if we don't but an SD card and forget to transfer it to our computers

Last of all just put more work effort into servers overall. That, voice chat support (no, not a bar), and the removal of friend codes at least to those who register (Whether it'd be free or not is up to Nintendo; not me :B) would be nice.

But overall that's all I have in me for now. I actually did find the Wii a decent console much like my ownership now of all 3 consoles but I feel there's much each console could at least try on next generation.

Okay, I've said it before, just because it can output in HD, does not mean hundreds of millions of polygons, advanced shading, whatever. Go play a PC game from 2002 in a ridiculous high resolution, it looks godlike. Just outputting in a high resolution bumps up the graphics.

Another thing, "All Nintendo makes is minigame compilations & Wii__ games", NO. I'm gonna say it, if you seriously believe that, you are an idiot, if not, please provide evidence to the contrary. How many games has Nintendo made this gen that are either minigames or Wii___? Ummmm, Mario Party 8, Wiisports/resort, Wiiplay, Wiifit. Thats it, everything else has been the standard Nintendo fare. & before you say, "but these ones aren't as good as the previous versions" ,that's what everyone says, ALWAYS. It happened last gen too.

As you can tell, I'm tired of hearing about this. One last thing, PS3/360 fanboys always complain about the Wii being kiddy, yet now, with the MOVE, a lot of them are ecstatic. Amazing isn't it?

Depends on what type of innovation you're talking about there. DS did a nice job and it wasn't over-excessive. Other systems innovated not in the fancy controller but in the actual games/gameplay with new IP's. (The SNES had some of the latter. See: RPG's)

Next time I go to Wal Mart, Target, Best Buy etc... I will take pics of my cell phone and SHOW you the Shovel ware crap Nintendo is "TRYING" to sell.

I mean, you have THOSE kind of games, and then you have Decent games. (Yes, this of course is my opinion). But really.......... out of 50 games for example, when 33+ games are just Awful compared to the rest...... it's very disheartening.

And you know, I'm not the only person who feels this way.

DS became over-excessive. Example being the DS utilizing touch controls ending up ruining the Zelda franchise. Nobody complained about Zelda before innovation.

Well, 3D Zelda was innovative, but it didn't have bullpoop everywhere.

It's partly Nintendo's fault for making half their line-up games LIKE them. And after the runaway successes of the Wii Sports and Play, how can you blame them?
Nintendo isn't supporting the third parties when they put the core games on there, and instead opt to just let whatever be be, and when the new crowd continues to buy the shovelware, no one will support it.
At least the last couple of months Nintendo has FINALLY gotten the message (somewhat) on that front by publishing a couple of Square games. But when it comes to giving the third parties the tools to succeed on their console, Nintendo is just plain horrible at it (terrible online, lack of hard drive, terrible processing power, ALWAYS being the last to send out development kits. For some reason Nintendo hates it whenever anyone else succeeds on their consoles X_X:; )

One franchise =/= An entire system. Overall the DS is at least not that over excessive in It's idea it's trying to pull off of touch screen controls.

On the contrary every time I look at the wiimote (Or hell, the PS3 move) I look at things like "Wait why the intercourse  did they add this button"

That's not an excuse for NINTENDO at least to come up/out with some decent games of their own.

They have SMG 2 and the Next Zelda game coming out (yayy! Really... Yayyy!), but what else can they do?

They also have S&P2 and Metroid: Other M

But really third-party support is pretty bad still on the wii. That really needs to be fixed up next gen; Don't run them off so easily dangit

Other M sounds pretty bad if you read all of the info the devs have given out. It's like Metroid: Zero Mission: The Version for Pussies.

I've only read one article where they talk about combining all plots. Anyone mind informing me on any others? I'd like to find out myself since I've kept no notice of this title.

Well to be honest, it's more like Zero Prime Mission because of the switching thing. :P

But yeah, it's not the same cold blood hardcore space pirate killing Samus. It's a more pussified version.

In this game you switch from 2D to FPA. Zero Mission + Prime

Zero Mission and Prime were two different games, on different systems.

How exactly does this make it like Zero Mission and Prime, again?

Zero Mission = Sideway view.

Prime = First person shooter view.

Other M = Change between two to play stages.

...I could've sworn Other M was 3D, and that pointing the Wiimote at the screen switched gameplay to FPS mode, but whatever.

It's basically 2D when not in FPS since you're basically "on rails". From the trailer you can basically move in 3D in a room, but targeting looks fairly automatic and is basically shipping you everywhere you go.

While I'll wait to play it, initial thoughts are "This is supposed to be a Metroid game?"  Personally, I think the 2D and FPS segments switching will be really disorientating and pointless.
