Just great, right when i get back from school, turns out my cousins are at my house to go ice skating on the pond and they decided to use my Wii. The older one kept beating my younger cousin in SSBB. Next thing i know he begins crying like crazy and throws the Wiimote right at my darn Wii.
The whole thing doesn't work now. :(
I need to get a new one but thank god i saved all my games also on a memory card while i played them.
Have you ever gotten your Wii trashed for some random reason/catastrophie?

I hope you give it a proper burial.
You should really make them or there parents pay for it or at least some of it - Well not in a rude way, but for doing that so inconsiderately to your console then yeah.
As to what you should do in the case that they won't just get one for 200$ again and you'll be fine. In the meanwhile, I recommend backtracking on any other systems you have. Maybe you'll get lucky off of a sale.
For systems that I've had break;
-NES (no idea how this one died it died the first few days after I got the hand-me-down last I recall)
-SNES (died after the months I had it for; ended up getting sold along with the NES. ;_; )
-Gamecube (Kept it on too much)
-DS Phat (Touch screen was rather irresponsive)
-PS3 (Save data bug)
-360 (RROD from borrowing it)

I second this STRONGLY. Hopefully it'll teach them a lesson.
The nly console to ever broke on me was my Gamecube.
I don't have much use for it now, anyway. I have a Wii.
That really sucks, my condolences.
I've only had two consoles break on me, and both instances had nothing to do with anyone other than the company that produced the consoles. I had a first generation ps2 and the lens busted so I just bought a slim. I had a first gen 360 and it RROD'd so Microsoft sent me a refurbished one only for it to break a week later. They sent me a brand new one as an apology, came with HDMI and everything. Too bad I still don't have an HD tv.
besides that, i only had my Xbox get the RROD with all four bars. I have no clue why, but i got and elite now and it's awesome.
I'm just thinking of paying for it myself. My aunt already has the burden of dealing him complaining, crying, and smacking on his door abnoctiously whenever he's in trouble. My younger cousin has a short fuse to anything. I can assure him im DEFINATELY not letting him use it AGAIN.
My SNES broke when my grandparents borrowed it. I think a power surge blew a fuse or something, because they used it once. >_>

Yeah they use a new type of motherboard that can actually withstand the heat the console produces for the newer 360's. I haven't heard of many people getting RROD with them.
How do you break a Wii by throwing a controller in it? There's nothing inside to break aside from the lens assembly.
360 Elite? Yeah, I've heard some better things about that. I think after the summer/me not having the temp 360 anymore I may just go out and buy the Elite If It's cheap enough. I already have an HD and I don't feel like blowing another 300$ on a console I won't get the chance to play all too much.
On the other hand, 100$ or so for a used one sounds convincing. It's just that RROD...the horror stories ,_,

What? How old is he? He certainly deserves to be taught in some way or form. Maybe not paying for it himself but kids often remember these life lessons earlier on in life. Just not letting him use it doesn't fix other peoples worries; Even If you're paying for it yourself you should do something, or at the very least, tell your parents about the situation calmly so they can tell his parents. He may actually need to go through something If he's like that and a bit older.
I just really think it's a bad idea letting them run off like that even with paying for it yourself - But hey I don't know your real life so I'll let you judge. Just take the words into consideration.
MY first gamecube stoped working on me, my brother originally got it used from a friend, broke within a month or so. and then my brother also got a 360 used, broke in exactly one month and we couldnt use the gamestop warrenty, luckily i paid for it and microsoft swaped the inside with a brand new system and its all mine now. other then that my ps2 doesnt work, full of dust me thinks.
Well he's like 7 years old but he has serious (I mean SERIOUS) anger issues and is pretty spoiled :|
Well, I delt with the situation and it's handled right now. (I think they grounded him for a month). :| thats pretty long for a seven year old though. Also, he had his DS taken away for a while.
Ok, just got my new Wii today! :)
Hopefully nothing else will happen that causes it to break. >:(

Okay, dude, put it inside a drawer or something so it doesn't get broken.
Nah..Im gonna keep it out, except when my cousin (who has an anger issue that goes out of control like a hairtrigger). Comes over. I have a Fire, water, break proof safe that will keep it out of harms way.
Things are getting weirder around here.
A lightning bolt almost struck my house and grounded out about 15 feet away. I felt the static electricity from how close it was and it felt like getting shocked by a vandagraph generator. Luckily my Wii wasn't plugged in or it would've grounded out into it. My DS was plugged in though and a spark came out of the outlet where it was plugged in. The screens are brighter than normal.
IS this normal?
EDIT: Somthin is REALLY unnomal here wit my DS!!
At least you're still living.
Hey, we here know all your consoles will be broken by your family, friends, and forces of nature, but you just happen to have bad luck...
Take care of your things. ;)
Uh, Then why wasn't it just the lightnig that made the flash!?!?!?
Gratefully yeah it didnt hit my room. I don't think it's bad luck. I think it just happened by coincidence. :O
My DS is acting all weird now! IDK why. Something is missing from the memory too!!
EDIT: If it was bad luck, i'd have a hole in my ceiling.
Read back. Already said forces of nature.
I said that there was still a flash after the lightning. IDK what it was.
My DS has a much longer lasting battery power now! :O Looks like the bolt of lightning actually did something good. Something is missing from my Pokemon game though. :| Probably gltiched.
It will blow up.
Probably if the lighning bolt struck it, but it didn't.
Uhhh... is this normal? I snapped a picture of the DS and idk why it came out fuzzy but it the screens are glowing bright blue but the color only shows up on relection of the exterior of the DS. The color of my DS is White and the blue light makes it look like it's blue
(http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/089/c/6/Unnormal_DS_by_ChrisCLX.jpg)
What is going on?
T.D.P.!!!
It still has the weird thing going on.
Someone know what's going on?
Looks like your camera got fried, too.
If anything, a good bit of power went through the DS and might have fried a capacitor, resistor, or something else, not to mention the battery might be unsafe as well. I'd probably stop using it and send it in.
Talk about overkill.
The Blue glow is on and off, and i highly doubt the battery is unsafe. I'm going to stick with it still. If anything happens, well, idk, i may just wake up to a fried DS. I'm more of a risk taker than a Mr. Safety. Hopefully nothing else thats weird happens.
Also, why do i strangely feel that something big is about to come up? IDK, i get this feeling sometimes and something ends up coming up out of nowhere in the future.

That something is going to be you saving money for another DS.

Unfortunately, Mr. Risk Taker is probably going to be spending cash on another DS after the last one bursts into flame. What Mr. Safety would do is take out the battery, screw the cover back on, and send it in to Ninty for a check up. Considering the status of the DS, they'll probably ship a brand new one your way instead of trying to fix all the possible crap that could have gone wrong.
Pros: Probably new DS, security, not having stuff explode (mind that you'll probably have to rebuy the game inside the DS as well), no need to shell out another $130
Cons: 2-3 weeks without DS, $5-10 dollars for shipping
Couldn't have put it better.
Make sure you take a picture and share it with us if it explodes.
Firsts i highly doubt it'll explode. Are the batteries inside a DS Li-Po batteries, because if they are, im gonna have to get a new one. Li-Po's do explode and i know it from experience. Im going to get it looked at tomorrow probably.
I've saved way over enough money for a new DS, but that will be for the 3DS when it comes out, and other games and stuff i want to get this year.

Yes, DS Lite batteries are lithium-ion batteries; however, that's not the only thing that should be preventing you from getting it checked out. Who knows what kind of electronics the lighting scrambled? At this point, it's not just the battery that may give. Science can't even explain half the crap lightning does to electrical systems.
Eh, well i went to Best Buy, and they made me try out a test battery there, there was no blue glow after it. Looks like it was the battery, but i'm still concerned what the lightning bolt did to it.
Everything is fine now, but i kept the old battery just incase. (It doesn't run out of battery, and for some reason hasn't been need to be charged for a while).
EDIT: I told the person at the store about the lightning strike. He told me he read a story on FanFic about some DS getting struck by lightning and a strange phenomenon happening about 3 days ago. Strange and ironic in a way is it?
...So you're going to trust fiction?
I seem to recall a "glowing DS" in your story too, WiiChris.

...So you're going to trust fiction?
Yes and no. Well, i'm kinda in between that answer. A lot has happened in the past two years since i turned 15 that has been strangly unrealistic, but has become realistic. For example.
I still remember this since last year. The night of February 12, 2009. I had this really wierd dream about being on this small plane carrying 40-50 people. We were coming in for landing and it was snowing pretty hard outside. The plane suddenly pitched upward sharply and then tilted right, nose diving right toward this house. I woke up right before it hit the ground. Just went back to sleep after i woke up. Next morning i wake up, there it is. A Continental flight crashed right into a house somewhere outside of Buffalo, New York, killing 49 on the plane and 1 on the ground. I freaked out because i remember my dream like it actually happened, and then this.
(http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/13/nyregion/13crash.html) 3407
Flying is one of my greatest fears, and to have a dream about it, and see the real thing the very next day scared the crap out of me.
Not to Mention i had another wierd dream last night, except there was an earthquake, and i was in a house and everything inside began to rattle around and fall off. Pretty scary but it felt soo real
I don't trust fiction completely, but there are some things out there that science and anything else cannot explain. I can't explain how many times Irony has just slapped me in the face and events (Maybe not as catastrophic as this one above) has happened.

Like you.

Good God, there was an earthquake today. >_< what the hell is happening. This is starting to scare me.
This was not childish at all. I had no idea what was going on with my DS. Litteraly, i thought i was going to wake up dead the next morning because the fear it would explode, but the tech said it's safe but be careful using it.

I didn't say you were childish.
The memory glitched. But i have this random save really far ahead in the game that i don't recall having.
Well, I can certainly confirm that lighting is indeed bad for electronics...
I know that topic passed awhile ago, but considering I've passed by this, needed to share, so here are...

to be a spoiler, lightning is one of them
Ok another lightning strike happened last night and my DS is back again with it's weird activity again
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!!!!!????

1) Stop doing anything that invokes bad luck such as black cats.
2) See the weather's forecast.
3) Consider moving away from Hellsville.
i think this goes much further than a bolt of lightning. I think this could be something else .
4) Do all of them.

I don't believe in bad luck, but if you do, my sister has a black cat. @.@
This is too real. Something is off for sure. I need time to investigate.

1st thing, do NOT blame a innocent animal for this! Just because people say they're bad luck, that probably wouldn't be it! Back to the topic, maybe it has to do more about the area around your house, home, etc.
Next, are there any objects around there that could attract lightning? Some trees for example? A really tall pole or something made out of metal, etc?
Finally, I'd suggest that you write to your local newsgroup. As much as riduculous as it may seem, it could be a solution. If they don't accept help emails, give me your house location and area please. I can email my group over here if you'd like. And the last thing...

It's a good idea actually. If there's a lighting storm coming by, PUT YOUR DS IN SOMETHING THAT DOES
NOT CONDUCT ELECTRICITY! For example, a wooden box, something made of rubber, or anything else non-cunductible.
Well, that's the best I can do for the moment.
May your DS and other electronics be safe in the future as well as your physical self.
I find black cats good luck anyways.
Well, i have no intention of reporting this to local authorities because the storms have stopped. There are three areas around my house with scorched ground about 5 feet in perimeter. IDK it just struck by my house.
Storms are gone now. All seems better, my DS is now functional without any problems.
