Yeah, in a similar vein to a couple of other threads, I'm asking NSFCD for help. My PS2 library is shallow, filled primarily with Square-Enix games, namely FFX, FFX-2, KH1, KH: Re:CoM, KH2, and Final Fantasy XII. I recently picked up Shadow of the Colossus, to diversify the library a little, but it's not enough.
"diversify the library"? Does that even mean anything?
I'm looking for PS2 RPGs. And I want you, the members of NSF, to help me with this. List some PS2 RPGs that I can hunt for at my local Gamestop/Amazon, because I'm going to be sending in my Wii, and I'll be needing a good RPG to last me a while. Maybe two. I've also been eying Mana Khemia for a while, so if anyone here has played it, which is unlikely, would it be worth investing in?
One song does not define a game. You said it yourself when you finished FFX.
*Looks at games interested in for PS2* This is too easy.
.Hack (Part 1-4; Part 1 takes long enough on it's own)
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Nocturne
Dragon Quest 8/VIII
Xenosaga
Odin Sphere
Should be enough to keep you occupied. Need anymore?

Need anymore?
...are you saying that you have more to recommend?
If so, then keep going.
MOTHERFUCKING TALES OF THE ABYSS.
GET THAT FUCKER RIGHT NOW.
You won't be disappoint. And everything TK has said.

Sure.
Star Ocean
Dark Cloud
Dark Cloud 2
Disgaea 2
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Star Saga
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner
Shadow Hearts
Valkyria Profile 2
Rogue Galaxy
Grandia 3
Phantom Brave
Suidoken IV
And If you want more just click this. Should be easy enough. (http://www.listal.com/list/rpg-world-ps2-edition)
Less quality than the ones I listed for most but yeah. PS2 is mainly built upon being a household to having a poopload of RPG's as I said in my RPG post. Though some of them like the Shin Megami Tensei games (Nocturne, DDS, etc), Dragon Quest VIII, and Tales of the Abyss are quite high in quality
Holy poop you don't have Dragon Quest 8? The game is so good it makes up for every other main DQ game being poopty. Get it.
Also:
Star Ocean Till the End of Time
Tales of the Abyss
Persona 3
Shin Megami Tensea Nocturne
Musashi: Samarai Legend
Which Square game was it that let you have like 100 party members? Whatever it was, it sucked. Don't get it. lol
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll look into them.
Also, I got curious and decided to search for Xenosaga Episode 1 on Amazon. This is my result (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00005BW7Q/sr=8-1/qid=1269885281/ref=olp_tab_all?ie=UTF8&coliid=&me=&qid=1269885281&sr=8-1&seller=&colid=).
Find it at a Gamestop, because it sure as hell isn't worth 75 dollars

I'm sure it's worth more than four dollars, but it's certainly available for such a price.
Do what you have to do. It's a pretty great game if you can stand 2 hour long cutscenes.
Sounds like the RPG equivilant of MGS4.
Lets see...
Persona: Check
Tales: Check
Odin Sphere: Check
They even added in Xenosaga. I am not needed.
I agree with all the recommendations except for Musashi...I found it to be rather dull.

I personally enjoyed it, not a AAA game or anything but still worth the 5 bucks or so you'll end up paying for it.
@OP:
MEGA MAN X COMMAND MISSION
not holy poop amazing but definitely worth whatever you'd find it for, probably under 15 bucks
My brother and I already played through Command Mission. Otherwise, I would've started searching for it.
Soul Nomad
...yeah, that's all I got, but I really liked it.
Even though it's been mentioned twice already, I'll go ahead and third Odin Sphere. Haven't played it myself, but after looking at various videos of the game I'm now keen on getting it.
I'm sure ThirdK has mentioned it, but Disgaea series is amazing. Massive amounts of time can be put into the game... x_x
I once picked up this game called Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits for real cheap off the used rack at Gamestop. It entertained me for a while until I got stuck at a boss and never touched it again...
But hey, might as well try it.
Thanks for the recommendations, guys. With the power of my new Edgecard, and Amazon, securing some of these titles shouldn't be hard at all. Just bought Xenosaga: Episode 1 yesterday, so I'm going to start looking for Odin Sphere and Xenosaga 2 now.
Also, three hours, and I've just now gotten out of the Prologue, after sitting through
many long cutscenes. After the prologue, I was given the option to save. After a twenty minute long cutscene, I was prompted with the option to save,
again.

Well intercourse , Zero was right, and I guessed right. It really is the RPG prototype of MGS4.
Told ya. It isn't a bad game, but yeah...darn cut scenes.
At any rate, I was reminded of this thread while in Gamestop one day and decided that it was high time I rebought Tales of the Abyss. My first copy was stolen by my ex, basically. It was 35 bucks. Overpriced, but whatever it came with the actual case. Which is a rarity.
Played for about an hour...then remembered I had homework to do. This then made me recall how back when I first played this game like five years ago I had virtually no homework.
As well as PS2 RPG's, you should look into PS1 RPG's.
Azure Dreams, FF 5-9, XenoGears, CronoCross, etc...

I'm not going to search online for overpriced RPGs on the PS1. It's too much money and effort.
Plus, I need more PS1 Memory Cards.
