Title: Easter
Post by: Doodle on April 04, 2010, 05:34:20 AM
So, it's Easter. What did you get? What are you planning to do, or what did you do already? Etc, etc.

Just found my basket, which is getting easier to find every year. :U
I see Peeps, chocolate bunnies, Cookie Dough Bites, mints, gum, various other chocolates and candy, and a $20 bill. :o

The gifts and the dinner are pretty much the only part of this day that I care about. The real point of the day is stupid.

Your typical chocolates and the like, as well as SoulSilver. Funny, I didn't even ask anyone for the game. My parents just assumed I wanted it.

It's my dad's birthday today, so we're kind of celebrating that instead. Unfortunately we're going to church (no offense to church-lovers, I just find it boring. At least the one we go to). Normally we wouldn't, but it's my dad's birthday and he wants to.

I haven't gone downstairs yet, been getting ready for church and all that FUN stuff. But I'm assuming I got a little bit of candy and that's it. They don't hide my basket anymore and Easter is kind of like a normal day. Or maybe it's just because it's my dad's birthday, so we're kind of emphasizing on that this year. It's his 50th after all.

Happy Easter to you guys who celebrate it, too. Happy any other day for you guys who don't. Happy Easter eventually for you guys that don't celebrate it now, but do later.

I got $40, candy, and technically my new phone.

The phone came yesterday, since my parents had their taxes back, and my mom wanted a new phone, my parents simply got phones for all of us.

We're getting the boy baptised today, so of course we're going to church.  The girl got to have an easter egg hunt in the house this morning.  I am eating the spare candy that didn't get put into eggs.

Happy Easter everyone! ;)

Well, i'm just getting together with my family and spending the whole day together. It's nice to see everyone around.

You found your basket? Mine's never hidden =o

I got lots of candy, chocolate, peeps, etc. and also a box of sharpies and a few DVDs.

I'm surprised my parents could afford it all.. :/ but nevertheless, I'm happy. Went to church at 8 AM (to get it over with) and having a party later, can't wait for people to come. I enjoy parties.

Yeah, happy Easter everybody.

I got lots of peeps and some chocolate, plus a free SSF4 whenever that decides to come out. I hate waking up early in the morning, but it's worth it for food. My favorite part about Easter is watching Charlton Heston grow a steadily larger and grayer beard.

The baskets we hide usually go to my nieces and nephews, who are in Florida this year. They said I was too old for baskets.
MYL attempted a temper tantrum to convince them otherwise, but failed.

So, we're not really going to fully celebrate Easter this year. I for one am trying to keep in the Easter spirit, and will be going out for Easter goodies in a few minutes.
How does this tie into the Easter spirit?

I get nothing :(

But I have to work on a holiday so I get paid $19.50 an hour :) It's a much better gift imo.

Just some candy. A giant white chocolate cross makes it amazing though. Some Reese's, crunch bars, and a big Mr. Goodbar. I was sort of hoping for some money or something, but it's fine. I honestly don't plan on doing anything. I already went to church, and I think I'm staying home and having a fancy dinner and whatever. It's also beautiful outside, so that's nice. :)

Oh right. We're not commercializing the holidays!

I never said we weren't. I don't care if people commercialize Easter. Because, quite frankly, it needs more publicity.

Fuck Easter. No one "celebrates" it for the right reasons anymore, it's just as bad as Christmas nowadays.

*goes to his Passover Sedar with family and friends of family while the kids watch the only Passover special ever, Rugrats. Ah, good times*

I like to think I celebrate it for the right reasons. ;-;

And the Rugrats Passover special is amazingly amazing.

I've noticed that Rugrats was the only show that cares about Jewish holidays. I've never seen any other show run a special for them.

It's because the creators were Jewish and were sick and tired of having nothing but Christmas and Easter specials and no Channukah and Passover ones. Obviously they had to make Easter and Xmas specials to appease the studio in return for the Jewish ones. I don't really complain, they're the only tv Chanukkah/Passover specials worth watching. Screw those poopty Disney Channel movies that were absolutely terrible.

I got some chocolate the other day but nothing today. And I was actually really late to church this morning and I was supposed to be there early for something. But it all worked out in the end.

Yea, but being Arthur it's super kid friendly and not all that amusing.

At least the Rugrats specials get the point of the holiday across and have some really good humor. (Driedel guy in the Hanukkah special "broke his Shin" *meaning he broke the side of the Driedel with the letter Shin on it, a hoy hoy hoy*; Stu and Drew's confusion on how to pronounce the "bitter herb" *which actually comes up a lot in Seders, it was amusing to see that in the special*, etc.)

Rugrats was just a good show period. My knowledge of Jewish holidays is based on what I remember from those specials.

But it's still there. And it isn't that bad.

Rugrats on the other hand, was one of the best shows ever. I never knew about the Driedel guy for the first few years. I think it 3 or 4 years ago I actually found out. It was quite clever.

Like RedSox said, it's an amazing special.  If it's the only special, then it does enough for any others that could be made.
