Yeah. Ever since my Wii broke, my iPod's been gradually dying, in different ways. Why? I've no intercourse ing clue. So, I'm doing something I normally hate doing, and am asking for help. What's wrong with it? I'll tell you what's not functioning right with it.
I've got an 8 gig iPod Touch, Second Generation. Whenever I plug it in, the iPod doesn't realize it's being charged. The large battery doesn't appear in place of my wallpaper, and the battery symbol on the top right of the screen remains unchanged. It charges, though. It also doesn't fully sleep when I lock it. This is hard to explain, but the screen is still on, and I can't interact with it until I unlock it. Just a black screen, with a very faint light. As a result, this causes my iPod to lose battery power much faster than it used to. (Yes, it's also the battery itself that's dying. I know.)
Another problem is that it doesn't flip. Well, it doesn't sense motion anymore is what I mean. Safari, albums, apps, photos, it doesn't register any form of motion anymore. This makes using Safari unnecessarily more irritating to use. Yet another problem is double tapping the home button. Normally you can set double tapping the home button to bring up a small menu to play music, searching your entire iPod, or going straight to your music library. In my case, that menu doesn't pop up anymore for yet another unknown reason. Changing the action does nothing.
Yet another problem STILL is my bookmarks. What's the problem? I had a whole bunch of bookmarks on the Youtube app, and one day, a month ago, Youtube reset. Entirely. As in, my preferences were reset, my history was wiped, and all of my bookmarks were erased. Why did this happen? Hell if I know. I'm concerned this will happen to my bookmarks in Safari as well, at some point.
The screen is very slightly cracked, but it's not noticeable unless you really look for it. Does this have to do with the technical problems? No, I just thought I'd mention it. At least it makes more sense for the screen to crack than every other issue, save the failure to register motion.
Lastly, the Wi-Fi got worse. EVERY TIME I don't use my iPod, the Wi-Fi won't work. I'll go to Safari, iTunes, or Youtube, and it won't connect. I have to go to Settings, and turn the Wi-Fi off, and turn it back on. BUT, I can't CHOOSE my brother's router, I have to let it choose my brother's router automatically, because if I do it myself, then it'll just totally drop the connection with the router and disable Wi-Fi.
There's a 100% chance that I'll have to take it to Apple, but I want to see what you guys have to say about this, because I want to know what's wrong with it.
Plus, 1600+ pictures of Yuri are on that thing. I synced my photos to iShit iTunes. I'm not going to lose those pictures, right? /unsure
I had the same problem as you did at the beginning of your post but none of the rest of that poop happened to me.
You'll have to send it back. Also, it depends. If you just sync'd it to the iPod and don't have it saved on the computer then yes. you're intercourse ed.
Just send it back. The same thing happened to a friend's iPod and he got it fixed and then immediately sold it for a Cowon S9.

...so, you're suggesting I repair it and sell it to buy something better?

No. I actually saved the pictures from my iPod and synced it to iTunes. Still don't know if that means I'll lose them.
Send it back to Apple and let some depraved employee enjoy those, uh, lovely pictures.
