Title: BungieVision
Post by: Macawmoses on May 01, 2010, 12:23:02 AM
Bungie and Activision just signed a 10 year deal for an un-announced multiplatform project. Obviously, this is a pretty big deal - Activision just lost Infinity Ward, and it shows that Bungie isn't necessarily as big of M$ lovers as first expected.

What do you think the project will be? Will it be heading Wiiward?

Call of Duty: Combat Evolved.

If Activision lost IW, they're making a deal with Bungie because of Halo because of the loss of Call of Duty. To me, there can't possibly be any other reason.

I thought that was too obvious - so, I'm guessing an actual new franchise...that's super generic.

Well, they can't make a Call of Duty game if IW owns it. I'm not sure which company does.
It'll certainly be a Halo game though, some kind of spin-off.

Activision owns the brand. They have two companies working on the brand, so they can release one every year.

Well then I can certainly smell a Halo/CoD crossover.

Doesn't Microsoft own Halo though?

Probably some new IP, and I SERIOUSLY doubt it'll come to the Wii.
Sony must be salivating at the thought of Bungie releasing something multi-platform.
But to be honest I found Halo one of the most overrated series of the past ten years, so I really couldn't care less what Bungie is doing.

So Activision now owns 90% of the gaming companies right?

Yes.

And 90%, MoS? More like 99.

Wait, how does Microsoft own what Bungie created?

They bought out the rights to Halo, I believe.

Bungie: We're done making these
Microsoft: Make 10 more, then give us rights, THEN you'll be done
Bungie: K, but we leave after that.
Microsoft: We don't care, Master Chief is officially our money pig

I think it will be a new series. FPS, OF COURSE! God they need to make something other than FPS' these days.

You know, Activision only gets to publish whatever Bungie makes. They don't own poop, except for first dibs on publishing. So they only get 10% of whatever the game makes. No IP ownership, nothing. Oh, and they get to be on the box too.

Bungie will be off to do their own, probably strategy games. Activision gets Halo.

Acually, 343 industries have the rights to Halo after Reach.
they'll continue the series.
