Tons of news has been circulating around about it. First it's confirmed, then it's not...then I have no idea.
Really, the question is...do you see now as the time for EW Jim to return? Personally, I'm not convinced an 8-bit revival would work for him. He's a timeless character, but with Mega Man, Mario, and Cave Story filling in the niche right now...it just won't sell. Personally, I think a budget wii release would be Jim's best bet. Comic up the look with 2D visuals like Shake It!, market the hell out of it, and keep it about 30 bucks, and it'll do fine. Make it downloadable...and I think it'll flop.
Also, for the love of god, keep the tv series dead.
So, thoughts on the future of Jim?
It has a good potential to flop in my eyes either way.
What they'll need is more outside of just the niche' market to appeal to that in my book. Maybe not all that much more. I don't even remember how much the MM downloadable ones sold, so maybe if the fanbase is still strong it could sell. But for how long it's been dead I really don't know.
Never got into it much anyways.
I've always been a fan of Earthworm Jim, and I know a lot of people who are also fans, it would certainly appeal to us who grew up playing it. I think if it's done the right way, marketed properly and priced right, I think a lot of new people will give it a chance and if they make it a classic Earthworm Jim experience I know they'll love it. EJ has always had a lot of comedic elements that made the series fun, I think games take themselves too seriously these days, so I think this game will have it's place.

Well, there certainly haven't been any games in my memory that have you beat a boss by knocking its bowl over. That said, I think the comedic elements are perhaps what kept it from becoming a mainstay. I love the series for its take on things, but it unfortunately kept it niche, in my opinion. Would you sacrifice some of Jim's humor to get another chance as playing as him?
Can't say I'm too excited for it, I loved EWJ but it wasn't at the top of my favorites list.
I always got chills to the Moonlight Sonata stage. D:
I'll admit that I haven't really bothered playing any of the Earthworm Jim games, but if they did make a new one, I'd probably buy it.
Bump, Earthworm Jim HD on Xbox Live Arcade now, 800 points. I haven't played it yet, but the graphics look much nicer, I just hope they didn't change too much else of the game. Also , Earthworm Jim's space suit is an unlockable avatar award, how awesome. Go buy it now!
Earthworm Jim HD came out?
I'll try to pester my brother into buying it.
They cut out the best level, wtf. Also, the boss of the bonus stages you can unlock is Keyboard Cat, and he's intercourse ing impossible on the hardest difficulty, If I could beat him I'd be in like the top 10 on the leaderboard D:
