Multipurpose thread.

This is the big topic - Apple rejecting this game, about seal clubbing, when it allows things like GTA on its system. Now, the larger scope...what makes seal clubbing any different than any other hunting? The hunters have a code of ethics - they won't kill the cute little adorable ones. In terms of the actual hunt, it takes a fair amount of skill, and the kill itself is fairly quick. People argue that it isn't a necessary hunt, but then again, what of whales, or really, deer.
Discuss all things seal.
I like seals, but this is a pretty stupid thing for Apple to do. They were probably threatened by PETA or something. I wonder what would happen if a big name company made a seal clubbing game for the 360or PS3, would it cause more outrage than Grand Theft Auto did?
Don't care, pretty stupid and double standards.
As for seals I googled a picture and...

d'awwwwwww. You know deep down inside it just wants to bite your finger.
I'm a proud member of the Seal Cub Clubing Club.
It's fine to kill animals, just not the cute ones.
I don't support killing of any animal, seal or deer, and quite frankly I think anyone who can kill a defenseless animal for sport (Especially CLUB a intercourse ing seal who can hardly even move on dry land) has some type of mental issue, because that's sick.
I can understand natives who hunt for food, but to go out and shoot or club something for sport is ridiculous. No matter how many times I think about it, I just can't see how anyone could do that, unless, again, they have some type of mental issue. (Get ready for all the redneck hunters to respond)
Apple shouldn't allow any type of hunting game, but whatever, nothing you can do about it.

Sport? I didn't know that killing for cause was a sport. There are three primary purposes of killing seals: the skin makes a great water proof lining in shoes/boots/coats/etc and is among the most ancient reasons to kill, well, any animal. Next, it's used instead of fish oil, and is huge in Canadian markets. It's a well known supplement. Finally, many, many communities do the selling of the skins/etc. But they don't waste anything - they eat pretty much the whole thing.
The fact you assume it's for fun or sport is actually a little concerning. It makes me question what the media is, exactly, covering. The livelihood of many people comes down to seals. I'd also like to point out that, due to the perceived "enhanced global warming", a ton of seals are drowning to death, as they don't learn to swim before the ice melts. Personally, I'd say a quick painless death where the body is used makes more sense to me.
And using a statement like redneck hunters is a little concerning. I came face to face with a picketer while I helped thin the deer population a couple of years back, because they had Chronic Wasting Disease. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_wasting_disease) Their opinion that starving to death and leading to extirpation was a much wiser idea then a quick death. What I find is that many, many, of those that protest the death of animals know little about population control, disease, etc. Plus, I imagine you contribute to the death of animals.
I dunno if I'm hypocritical. I love meat, I'll eat meat, but I can't stand the thought of an innocent animal dying.
I would never kill an animal myself.
I can't support Seal clubbing.
I don't necessarily care about hunting, in which ever form it takes, as long as it's needed. To kill just to kill is pretty darn stupid.
You're all intercourse ing stupid.
They club the seals so that they can keep the fur unbroken before they craft with it. I swear, American media is so gosh darned retarded it's almost depressing. The seal hunt isn't this "SHIT EVERYONE GRAB A CLUB AND BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF SEALS HELL YEAH" situation that they make it out to be. It's just what the Inuit hunt. That's all.
Yeah, kind of a double standard there considering the footage of the game is hardly graphic. I don't think there'd be as much complaints as much if the seals were replaced with snakes or something. Guess there are things that are just 'off-limits', if that makes any sense.
You know, the 'Overlord II' demo, featured you clubbing seals and then fighting off PETA in a sort of parody-ish way.
That felt pretty good.

Found it. Watch in that order. ;v
Warranty void if seal is broken.
But in all seriousness, seals= DAWWWWW and those clubbers should be jailed. or does canada land not have animal abuse laws?

Canada does have laws about animal abuse, but my understanding of the issue is that its mainly being done by aboriginal groups who have the right to hunt their ancestral prey, which happens to include seals

That doesn't explain the tourists who go and do it for sport.

On the topic of killing animals: they are delicious. Should I feel worse about it if someone has a good time hunting it down rather than herding them through an efficient killing factory?
And I don't like cruelty for cruelty's sake. I don't particularly like dog fighting and poop like that. But things like spraypainting people for wearing fur coats is just ridiculous. I mean, people can spend their money however they want to, but theirs a lot of bad things happening with human beings, and PETA is a mulit-million dollar organization (over 32 million in contributions for '09 (http://www.peta.org/about/numbers.asp)). Let's be concerned about animals, sure, but lets use 32 million to build free clinics and homeless rehabilitation centers and things that make human lives better.

See, the thing is, we actually promote Snake Clubbing (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_did_St._Patrick_drive_the_snakes_out_of_Ireland) every march 17th.

They are indeed delicious.
But the tourists who kill them don't eat them, they kill for sports. IMO, don't kill it if you're not gonna eat it.
