So, with Super Mario Galaxy came this board. But there are no topics for it.
So I ask a simple question. Are you hyped for it? Think you'll buy it?
I know I won't. I never liked the first one except for the music. Which was amazing. But I didn't like it other than that.
There is a high chance I will get it eventually. I'm excited but not THAT excited.
I haven't been truly excited for a game in a while, truthfully. Maybe I've become a bit jaded.
the game hasn't even arrived and you're already talking about it exiting? slow down man. cool it.
and i wont get it. im not going to bring any of my systems or anything with me to college, so im not going to waste money on a game i only have a few months to play.
I'm not ultra hyped for it, but I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out.
I'll probably buy it.
...
But I should probably actually beat the first one.
:B
The fact the difficulty starts where the first left off is something for me to enjoy. Galaxy was far too easy - so I hope 2 ramps up a bit.
I'm getting it for sure. Not sure when.
I'm hyped. The first one is by far my favorite game on the Wii.

This. It's not so much Galaxy 2, but more along the lines that I have SOMETHING to play. I thought God of war 3 would take up a lot more time, but no, it didn't. So bah on that.
I was obsesede with the first one but now there is going to be a Super Mario Galaxy 2! there nis no way i'm not getting it. in my opinion Super Mario Galaxy was second only to Super Mario 64.
I feel like at the age of 3 when I first played SMB that I signed a contract with Nintendo:
I get to keep my soul, and in return I have to purchase every main entry in the Mario franchise until the day I die.
So yeah, I'm getting it.

I don't get why people bring this up so much. In 3D Mario platformers outside of getting ALL 120 (Or around) there's never much of a difficulty. I've played all 3 during the same course of three months with about the same skill level and there's nothing that strikes me in general sans for completing everything outside of some choppy levels.
That being said I'll for sure get it. I just probably won't get it this summer due to games I want over it.
Of course I am. I already reserved my copy. I'll see what they did with the little story they made.
People complained about difficulty in Mario Galaxy, yet they were less experienced when playing past games in the franchise and thus the games were more difficult. I've played through Mario 64 and Sunshine recently and they're definitely just as easy as Galaxy. Besides, an easy game is an easy way to make sure your game hits your target market of "all ages".
You're growing up, that's all. lol

Not really. Mario 3 still kicks everyone's asses, and Mario 64 and Sunshine are definitely harder than Galaxy. The hundred coin missions as well as the basic structure makes the games a lot more difficult. Galaxy basically holds the player's hand by telling them where to go from the start, making it the only path (except for the blatantly obvious alt. path to a different star), and having tons of little "hints" there telling you how to do certain things at points. It's just...easier.
Well maybe my sense of difficulty is warped considering all the difficult video games I regularly played growing up.
I don't know. lol. They all just seem easy to me. Not like I care though. Still great fun.

Galaxy was easier than Sunshine. I just can't find any way to say otherwise.

It is.
The margin between the two isn't that big as people stretch it out to be which is what's being discussed here. That's what we're (Zero and I) are trying to get out. People treat it like the margin between the two is really stretched when Nintendo is just trying to make the product more appealing.
Nonetheless I would like to see a better focus on the optional stuff to do after beating the game. It's not like most gamers go for those anyways.

Again, seeing as both games difficulty are practically nonexistent I'm not sure why it'd matter. Most of the difficulty in Mario 64 comes from
control issues and
not level design or enemy placement. Mario Sunshine fixed a lot of this but added in the FLUDD gimmick. Either way, all three games are undeniably easy.
Maybe it's just me, but I found SMG annoyingly difficult. Taking the wii mote and balancing Mario on a ball rolling across a tight rope over a pit of Lava for example was just too.......UGH, I still have nightmares! :D
I'm looking forward to SMG 2, but my Excitement for it is really far below the level it should be.
I see it now......... Since I already bought it like over 11 months ago, I'll pick it up from Game stop, I'll put the game on my dresser... I'll play Diablo II on my computer for a few Weeks... while playing SSBB in between breaks. Go to work, eat, sleep............ 6 months will pass then I'll have the urge to play SMG 2.
>___<
The first Galaxy was one of the best games of this gen imo so I'm pretty excited for Galaxy 2.
That said I tend to under hype Mario games so I'm way below what I probably would be for Zelda Wii or something but I'm still excited.
Caution Spoilers in video.

Just listen to that music.
That alt. star seemed pretty obvious... As a Mario 64 nut, I have a tendency to scour the entire level out of habit anyway, so that would've been pretty obvious for me.
Great music tho.
Yeah it was pretty obvious but you have to keep in mind that it's one of the earlier galaxies.
