Here's some footage. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfVig9hJ0L8)
Well, we've got one 64 stage returning as a Galaxy. What do you guys think about this? Would you like to see the return of more stages, or is this good as is?
Personally, I'd like to see one or two more. Maybe a Sunshine one?
Yes
The amusement park area from Sunshine would be badass.
Well remember guys, somehow Whomp's fortress was floating in the sky, so it works perfectly as a "galaxy." Though I guess a lot of Mario 64 stages were kinda somehow floating in the sky... but yeah.
Well, this is certainly interesting.
Amazing. Just amazing.
Mario 64 in MY Mario Galaxy?
FUCK YES

Pianta Village might work since it was in the air
I loved that stage.
It's easier than the original. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitle3gvof391cwuy) That one part at 17-18 seconds would've killed you in the original. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FanDumb) Thanks for raping my childhood, Nintendo. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuinedFOREVER)
In all seriousness, that's pretty awesome.

I remember that village being on top of very thick roots. Does that count as being in the air?
Yeah, it was all just in that giant tree. This remake looks really cool. It's scary to think that Nintendo could just remake 64 with better graphics, and people would probably still buy it.

They won't do it any time soon, if ever.
I'll admit that I'd be one of those people though. Can't help myself.
yes please.

I already bought the remake of SM64 in 2004, so I'd probably stay away. Maybe.
While I like Bomb-Omb's Battlefield better than Whomp's Fortress, I think the Fortress fits in more here. I think if they bring in a Sunshine one, it'll be the Plaza or that village.
It's part of the Throwback Galaxy.
You wanna know the best part?
It's a multistar Galaxy so there's probably more than just Whomp's Fortress.

Better video.

See that Bowser tile on the top where you fight the boss? I bet after you beat him it opens up and has a sling star to another world from 64. Or it could just have the power star but just Whomp's Fortress's first mission seems a little bit short for a mission in a world 6 galaxy.
Also as awesome and amazing as this is does it feel kind of empty compared to the other galaxies to anyone else. Stiil it's probably one of my favorite things we've seen so far for pure nostalgia.

Noticed that. Yea, it's probably a bunch of past stages combined into one big galaxy or something. Needless to say, the 64 stages are meant to have multiple stars and be replayed, and from the looks of things Galaxy 2 will have fewer starts per galaxy.

I think that most "major" galaxies have 2 stars with smaller galaxies having 1. Don't Quote me on that.
While there are less missions in the Galaxies they make up for it by adding more of them.
As seen by this spoiler ridden list.

Weird. It worked on my other computer. But it doesn't on this one.
I'll see what I can do about finding a working link...
Edit: Never mind. Thanks Cornwad.
indded, thanks Cornwad
The Gametrailers review shows footage of a level that looks like a Secret of the -- level in Sunshine, which is pretty cool too.
This has just convinced me to buy Galaxy 2.
