Title: Looking to sell old Bionicles on ebay, found some ridiculous auctions
Post by: Lotos on June 16, 2010, 06:40:59 PM
I'm putting together some old Bionicles (lego sets) to put on eBay.  I search the listings for the highest first.  I can understand $175 for the original set NISB (http://cgi.ebay.com/Bionicle-Lego-8531-8532-8533-8534-8535-8536-Toa-NISB-/320548169882?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa228e89a), but when you have 80 manuals going for $130 (http://cgi.ebay.com/80-Lego-Bionicle-Instruction-Manuals-Bulk-Lot-/260619724861?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cae25683d) (note, there are NO legos or even containers in that auction), there's a problem.

Nerds/collecters/both will pay tons of good money for absolute poop these days. It's so hilarious, but it's also such a good source of profit for those auctioning them off.

People have bought jars of air, used disposable items of all kinds, and--literally--garbage. I don't see why they wouldn't buy these for so much.

But if you make a lot of money from it, why complain? I'd be thankful for it. Bionicle is awesome though, I still have just about all of my old ones. I even have the three movies. I just wish I still got the comics; they're awesome too.

I think I have some of the comics still.  I wonder how much I could get for those?

Also, I found that all of the instructions are online for free in .pdf format

I probably still have most of my bionicles, but I played with lego the right way and combined everything.

I think I remember hearing of the manuals being online. It's actually very handy.

The comics could really go for a lot though, especially if people are paying so much for the manuals. Think about it: even if you "only" get $20 for each comic, that's still almost ten times as much as its original worth.

I feel pretty lucky to still have the very first issue and the Toa of Light issue though. In fact, I think I have two copies of each.
