Title: Mario Tennis
Post by: SkyMyl on June 21, 2010, 11:35:57 AM
OH BOY. There's been a multitude of Mario sports games in the past fifteen or so years. Mario Toadstool Tour, Mario Baseball, Mario Hoop 3 on 3, Mario Strikers, and the bastard racing series itself, Mario Kart.

But what about Mario Tennis? It's the only Mario sports game I've actually bothered playing, aside from Mario Kart and Mario Strikers Charged. I remember the N64 game, the rather fun Gamecube Mario Tennis...hell, even the Game Boy Advance and Virtual Boy Mario Tennis games. I haven't played them, but they certainly exist.

So, how many of the Mario Tennis games have you played, and what do you think of them? Personally, I think it's one of the best Mario spin-offs that isn't Mario Kart or an RPG...or, well, Mario Party. Maybe that's obvious, though.

Also, I've never played the re-release of Power Tennis for the Wii. I've heard it's worse than playing the Gamecube version, though. Anyone here mind confirming that?

Man, oh man, I love me some Mario Tennis.

Mario Tennis 64 was the absolute best for me.
I think I also played the GBA game too.

However, I never did get my hands on the Gamecube one. :\

Mario Tennis has to be my favorite of all the Mario sports games. It can get pretty tense at times.

Why the hell would you play the NPC version when you can have the gamecube controller version

unless you can use the gamecube controller or some poop like that.

Then what's the point of putting it on the Wii?

What's the point of buying a Mario Tennis dedicated to motion control when you can have one with the gamecube controller?

Exactly.

The motion control is so much more fluid? And I had only rented it prior, so buying it for 29.99 was cheaper than snagging it off eBay/etc

N64 version is awesome, but my favorite is the Gameboy Color one. I love the RPG feeling of it, and the game is so intercourse win.

...don't you mean the Game Boy Advance version? I don't recall the GBC having an entry from Mario Tennis.

And that probably wouldn't bring it up to 30$

if it does find another site or get a friend who's in the US who can ship it easily or something.

even if it's say...20 dollars or so...it's also used. For the extra 50%, I can redeem it on Club Nintendo, have warranty, etc. Yeah, I think I'll take the new copy.

It's out on the VC now. That's convenient. Somebody make a thread about another N64 game we all want released before next monday.

Mario Golf is better, but Mario Tennis was indeed the poop back in the day.

The GBC and GBA titles were, and probably still are, my absolute favorite handheld games ever.  I was always hoping for a DS version, but nothing there.  I was never interested in the NPC! version because I just wanted a sequel, not a remake, but I think motion controls could work.  I would just always prefer the GCN controller.
