Title: Eggs and Salmonela Outbreak
Post by: The Seventh on August 23, 2010, 06:14:00 AM
Okay, as you may have noticed in the news, there's this huge uproar over a salmonella outbreak in eggs, and that it's the largest recall of eggs in recent history.

Okay, some of you may be genuinely scared, yadda, yadda, but seriously.  This has to be one of the most blown out of proportion things I've seen aside from that stupid swine flu poop that happened not too long ago.

One thing is, seriously people, are you THAT LAZY?  Relying on companies to properly pasteurize the eggs so you can half-assedly cook them?  Seriously here, fully cook eggs.  It's not that hard-just make sure the eggs are firm and not still partially liquidy.  It pisses me off when I hear people bawwing on the news that they got sick from their eggs.  This further makes me lose faith in the common sense of the general public (as if everyday occurrences didn't already do that enough for me).

And of course the feds aren't going to just come out and talk about how to properly cook the eggs-they've been considering investigations.  Nice, waste taxpayer dollars on something that'll be in the end superfluous, when enough has been wasted by Obama while he's in office.

So, moral of the story here is, just fully cook the eggs and you won't get sick.  Geez.

I think some people are just bad at cooking. Luckily im going to major in Culinary so thats not a problem from me.

Also where i live, the eggs come from the Farmers market, so we dont have to worry about this whole break out.

Same here.

Though, this outbreak doesn't seem to be stopping people from buying egg products where I work. Yeah, I cook them right, but still... =\

Never heard of it.

I hate eggs, anyway. I only like the ones that are fried in those asian noodles.

I heard of this briefly the other day.

...and I fail to see the problem.

It doesn't matter if the salmonella can be killed by cooking the food properly, the bottom line is the food is CONTAMINATED plain and simple. Would you rather they not recall them and not have news stories about it warning people, and potentially have a lot of sick people?

Maybe in culinary school you'll learn about other kinds of egg dishes besides scrambled. Some people like their eggs a little runny or even poached. Why should they get salmonella? O thyr dum!! LOLOL

hardboiled eggs are the way to go. Deviled eggs are the poop too. I say scrambled eggs are overrated.

I've known that for a while now, it's just this seems to have taken it to a whole new level.

Also, MOS (seeing as the add quote ISN'T WORKING) no matter how well pasteurized, the eggs will have some salmonella risk if not cooked properly-they can't do it too much or they cook the egg and then that becomes NOFUN
