Title: A proposal.
Post by: Silverhawk79 on October 23, 2010, 08:41:41 PM
WILL YOU MARRY ME?
TSK of virtualnes.com is offering a promotion of sorts. Send him 10 SNES games and he'll send you a free gift. Depends on what you send him, really.

Alrighty. Qualifications are: the user has to be a registered member of NSFCD, and mention this when they send me an email to the donation department. The game you get is determined by me, and depends on what games you send (Example: I get cheap if it's 10 sports games, if you send me something extremely rare, you might get an e-Reader.)

Uh...yeah.
and yes i know it's a huge ripoff but shhhh

Yes, I'm going to send him my copy of Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel for an e-Reader. If I send him EarthBound, do I get a copy of Brain Age?

Ask him for his address so we could send him the games, then sign him up for GameFLY and start with 10 NES games.

...That idea sounded better in my head.

This. It shouldn't matter if he's using physical copies of games or not. I doubt allowing people to play a bunch of SNES games for free on a website is anymore legal than downloading them from a rom site first.

It was worth a try, in someone's eyes.

Well, there is a question of legality here.  Instead of less than legal ROMS, there is some kind of loophole that allows him to have the games free to play on the site as long as he owns a physical copy.  Plus, playing games on his site doesn't require you to download an emulator or individual roms; you play the games in browser through Jave.

I don't think anyone here would go for it either, but I have considered it.  I'd be more likely to go grab a bunch of cheap games from vintage stock and send them in as a donation rather than expecting something in return for one of the gems of my collection.  I'm sorry, but I actually like what the guy is doing.  That makes me an idiot to a lot of people here, but that's the way it goes sometimes.  Besides, he was the one who helped us put up our very own NFES.

So maybe, just maybe, if you have an old SNES game in your collection that you wouldn't mind sending to the guy, that wouldn't be such a terrible thing.

EDIT- Also, you didn't really give any contact info for him, or tell us if it was for an SNES virtual site or what.  Or if a copy of that could be set up for NSFCD.

I think the point that should be elaborated on (not that I had anything to do with this) is that he takes donations. That's how he operates, or else he isn't even close to being legitimate. Donations, being the key word. The fact he is willing to reward you for donations is impressive enough. The fact he's willing to reward you a little extra for being from here is down right awesome.

As someone that uses NFES/virtualnes, I'll likely be sending him some gameboy and SNES games for his projects.

I think the loophole only counts if it's only for personal use.

Oh right. Contact info would help.
Well, it's on my laptop, and I'm in class right now.
Anyways, there's a chance that we could get virtualSNES for our site once it's up..which would be FREAKIN' AWESOME.
