Title: And nothing of value was lost.
Post by: Tupin on November 02, 2010, 02:44:27 PM
It's finally happened, folks. G4 is finally going off of the air on DirecTV after repeatedly being the worst rated channel:

Luckily, I have Charter so I can still watch X-Play occasionally, but it's still not good. But when I want to watch Cops or Cheaters, they're there.

Good freaking riddens. G4 was made by complete idiots; it went from "Lets do hilarious reviews and news shows about games with some porn here and there" to "COOOOOOOOOOOOOxplayOOOPPPPPPPPPpornSSSSSSSSSSS." It's like they just stopped caring. Heck, new X-Play just flat out stopped trying to be funny.

To think you'll have Canada's long running Electric Playground coming in to fill the gap.

K. I have U.S. Cable, which is probably a Comcast thing, so it doesn't matter to me. I only ever watch Sessler's Soapbox and Feedback on the actually website, so it doesn't matter.

I haven't watched G4 in years.
I remember when they were good (Filter, uh...decent X-Play...uhh...) back like 5 or so years ago.
Now they're just not even worth turning on.

I remember the good old days...

I remember watching Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke on G4.

Wasn't like they had anything else worth watching.

Nope. EP is still going strong. Quality is waaay better than it used to be, and it's daily. Plus, it's looking like our Reviews on the Run (also from Greedy) will hit the US (although, that's speculative).

In Canada, it's still called G4TechTV, right?

Wait, where is Electric Playground going to be shown? I saw that it's going to be broadcast in Australia, but found nothing about it in the USA.

I've no idea. G4 never interested me.

Also, http://www.reviewsontherun.com/index/press/

ABC is starting off with specials, basically with an option to pick the show up:

"The Electric Playground Buying Guides will consist of four one-hour Holiday Buying Guides for air in November and December, 2010 followed by three more seasonal specials in Q1, Q2 & Q3, 2011. The Buying Guides are sold on a station-friendly barter syndication basis with six-week windows and no restrictions on runs or day parts and stations are responding to the ad- friendly content."

" followed by a weekly hour in 2011 and a M-F strip in 2012"

So you guys will get specials, then you'll get a once a week (likely late night) show, followed by what Canada has...daily.
