GAME SUMMARY:Thanks to everyone who attended!
It took four rounds of twisty and turny moot trivia, but we finally got to the end once again.
Taking Round 1 was Razer. It's a good thing he got it out of the way early, because he did pretty awfully for the remainder of the evening.
Round 2 went to SilverHawk79, who, after claiming his victory, quickly found himself in a deep hole for the rest of the night as well.
Wave, whose presence was barely felt at times due to his multitasking prowess, took round 3 in a surprise victory, having remained largely silent and erratic for the first two rounds.
Finally, TOH would jump in and, in a 3-way showdown between _GanonMetroid_ and AJNrules, take it away to win round 4.
As time pushed onward, we finally reached the finals. TOH jumped out to a quick lead, but Wave and SH both had something to say about it. Runs were made against him, but it was too late, and TOH ran away with the win.
Final scores:
TOH: 4
Wave: 3
SilverHawk79: 2
Razer: Doughnut (he also failed to score any points, so, 0)
I want to thank everyone who attended for making it such a fun experience once again. It's you guys who make it fun each year.
I wish you all the best, as I will almost definitely not post again until another trivia game of some kind is planned. That will most likely be a KIT game. When that will be, I don't know.
Until next time, I leave you all with some of the memorable quotes from the evening, and bid a fond farewell for the final time.
Quotes from 12/29.[22:21] <~King_Gamer28> With all that said and done, are there any questions?

7th Annual Holiday Moot Trivia Game
Brought to you ceremoniously by Team Quiz, and officially by NSFCD
Welcome!Welcome to the official thread for the Seventh Annual Holiday Moot Trivia Game! Wow, that means we've been doing this since 2004? Every year? Yes! Indeed. Let's give some history.
The annual Holiday Moot Trivia game has been going on since 2004, when BOO_THE_GHOST and I had an idea to host a giant holiday trivia game in IRC. What a thrill it was, with an attendance of something like 8 people. It was good for what we had, though. Since then, we've had annual turnouts of
over 20 players each year! That's awesome.
The game holds many traditions and rules specific to it, making the game that much more memorable.
- The game is traditionally held somewhat late at night, usually starting no earlier than 9PM EST.
- The well-known multi-round format gives many players a chance to compete in the final round even if they're forbed earlier by some moot.
- Questions have traditionally been at least partially Nintendo-themed, something that will continue this year.
- In recent years, a material prize has been offered. More on the biggest prize we've offered yet in a bit...
Date & Location. The game traditionally takes place in the days following Christmas, but never less than a day away from New Year's Eve or Christmas Day, and never on a weekend (this increases the possibility that people will be able to attend without weekend obligations). That's just kind of how it's worked out.
This year's game will take place on
Wednesday, December 29 at
10:00 PM. The game may be pushed at the start time to as late as
10:30, though we'll have to see.
As for the location, it will be in
#moot on the Chatspike server (that's the same one NSFCD's chat uses. You can just use the command "/j moot" to get in.)
Prize.The
prize in recent years has been very conservative, being some points card for Wii or Xbox 360, etc.
This year's prize is a little better.
The winner will receive:
- A random game from KG's vault of video games for either the Wii or the Xbox 360 (winner's choice)
- $20 cash in that same box
Not the best thing in the world, but it's something. And you can always sell the game if you don't like it, and be happy with 20 dollars.
Rules.Unsurprisingly enough, most NSFCD frequenters will be familiar with the rules of moot trivia. But for good measure, and those who may not have played the Holiday Moot variant before, here they are:
--------------------------------------
All members are unmooted and available to participate in the first question. Each question is "worth" something:
-Moots: Standard - are used to eliminate other players from the game by muting them in chat.
-Unmoots: Opposite - save others who have been muted. Thus, once you get mooted, you are not necessarily completely out in the game during that round.
-"Shield" - Protects you from one moot.
Others may be introduced as gameplay continues.
Moots work in two basic ways:
-Choice: You choose who is muted.
-List: Based on the chat list, which will be visible to all participants, the winner will automatically moot people based on his/her position on the list. (Ex: 2 up/2 down will eliminate the two people above and below the winning player on the list)
As we eliminate people, there will become an increasingly smaller playing field. The round is over when all but one player have been mooted.
At this point, the whole process starts over. We do this 3 or 4 times, usually. The winners of all rounds face off in a final, points-based round at the end.
IMPORTANT: This is asked year after year. "If I win the first round, do I have to sit out the rest of them?" The answer is no. If one conceivably won all three/four rounds, there would be no final round and they would simply win the event upon completion of the final round. Subsequently, it is possible to just have a smaller final round field if one person wins multiple times.
The winner is the person who is victorious in the final round.
Conclusion. If you plan on playing this year, or if you have any questions, drop a reply to this thread! Also, make sure to help us choose a date, and let us all know what day is best for you of the two listed.
See you on December 29!
P.S.: Thanks to everyone who showed up to the last KIT game... right...
I'm good for all those times listed. For the record, I showed up to KIT. D:
Was KIT that time when we had to move it back a week because no one showed up the first time? I showed up the original date but i guess I missed the actual thing.. unless you never did it, or I'm thinking about something different.
I guess I'll try to make it. I'm not sure about the dates yet, but I'm pretty sure they're both good for me.
I'll probably show up. I did to the last one, I think. :U
Good with either date.
I was busy during KIT. ;_; Performance, I do believe.
Anywho, either date and time should be working for me as of right now. Cannot wait.
Probably 2 to 3 hours. The regular game will probably last 2 to 2½ hours, and the last round takes something like 15-20 minutes.
As I said before, any time works, with the later it is being the better. But seeing as how no one here'd probably wanna start at 11 EST, 10 works just fine.
Time and date all set.
At this point I'm not looking for people to register, per se, but rather just state whether they can come or not. If you already have, obviously don't do it again. But I just want a decent expectation of how many heads we can definitely plan to see.
Channel posted.
Keep in mind that that you can use the server on this site, as it uses the Chatspike server as well.
