Depends on who you talk to, I think. Plenty of people had negative opinions of me. I probably have a biased view, being me, but I felt that I just tried to keep people honest on NSider. Even people I worked with.
I tried to be fair within the confines of the rules and make the best out of a restricted situation for the majority of people. I dunno if I was always successful, but I'm comfortable knowing that I worked pretty hard trying to be consistent and do the right thing... whatever that was. Either way, when it comes to people who have a negative opinion of me because of anything that might have happened (perceived or real) on the NSider forums, I'm definitely not offended by it. I still like you NSider people.

I've heard that. It's worked sort of inconsistently for me. I tend to forget the numbers at the end of the name, so I think that's what throws me off. I should just bookmark the site, I think...
You were hilarious to watch posting on NSider2 during my time on staff there. People had no idea how to deal with you.
Oh, that's cool.
I was neutral towards Bronsen, and/but I doubt he remembers who I am.

Truth be told, they probably have even less of an idea now. I really think that moderating isn't as easy as some of us made it look. For the most part, we had a team of people with the right amount of professionalism that no matter how annoying some users could be, we approached them with level heads. On occasion, some of the people we had to contact were actually right. I distinctly remember a Cappy who retrospectively set me straight when they had a legitimately justifiable reason for doing something they had done.
In many ways, it's not really that they don't know how to deal with me as it is they don't know how to deal with the Serious Discussion board. I feel like they're very conflicted when they go after users for vague things like "flaming" and "trolling" on the Serious Discussion board, similar to how one might feel conflicted going after a user for something as vague as "spamming" on a Power On board. Even if it may not seem like it in the middle of an involved debate, I respect people who at least try to challenge me on what I write. That's something that's definitely lost on the current staff. And I find that unfortunate because they're going to inevitably wind up becoming the overbearing staff that we at NSider were often forced to be, but without the fair reason of having a legal team to answer to.

We've pretty much become the opposite. Partially because of the smaller community, and partially because...well, we don't like being stiff and boring. Sure, we do enjoy having fun, but if need be, we'll crack down on any shenanigans that will cause serious trouble.

I've had a conversation with someone about the differences you see in large versus small communities before. So I definitely agree that it plays a significant role.

If Chandelure was your name on NSider as well, I have to say it doesn't ring a bell. But if I had to make a guess, our interaction must have revolved around the sprite contests on the Pokemon board.

Well, considering Chandelure didn't exist until last September, and it wasn't called Chandelure until a month ago, and I'm only using this name temporarily because I like this Pokemon so much, no.
Does UltimateKAOS ring a bell?

Somewhat, yes. Even without the new name I'm getting Pokemon vibes, but I think we had our encounters on the Diamond and Pearl board, too.

Nope. Competitive community had the DPP board. Unless I'm horribly confused. I think Pokemon had 3 boards.

It was in the WiFi section, somewhat short-lived. It was a little bit controversial for users that weren't interested in Pokemon because indeed there were three sections for Pokemon at a single time. It was also tough to manage because of the Friend Code rules, since trading was possible with and without them (though most often done with). There was also a good amount of chaos when the D/P board closed.

In some ways that's sort of the entertainment value to it, though. When you make a busy board your playground, getting the moderator's attention gets the public's attention. And getting other users to know who you are is the point of the game.
The thing with Humu is that it's a little bit tough to explain to people that weren't there to see exactly what kind of moderator she was. Even one or two people who
were there don't really get it. But I think it's best put this way. In public, Cat is generally considered to be the foundation of the KoH group, but in reality I don't think the group would have functioned without Humu. As hard as I felt I worked, she worked 10x harder and had been going at it for more years. She always asked for feedback, wanting to know whether she handled this situation appropriately, what she could have done differently to make things work better. She always volunteered to help out in other peoples' little pet projects, was always available to help put a dent in abuse reports (even when it was 11pm and they were climbing upwards into the several thousands).
I think she really shined when the decision was made to close the Diamond and Pearl board. Like I mentioned, they acted really crazy over the news, and some of the other mods didn't want to touch the place (for a variety of reasons, but not limited to not wanting to be the "bad guy" in public, and because the traffic on that board was more than of Power On's). Not only did she step up to the task that no one wanted to do, but she virtually did it all alone, and made a crazy scenario a bit less crazy. I've definitely learned that being hated comes with the territory, and like I said I can accept the strong feelings certain people have against me. But I have a harder time accepting the antagonism Humu receives, because overall she was probably the best one of the group.
I bet I made her job easier @___@

OH! Suddenly it's all coming back to me. I think I visited that board a few times. I remember almost getting banned for being accused of FC trading. (Even though it was clear thatn I was organizing an awkward GTS trade with someone, which was a very unreliable method but it worked in that case).
Oh, Oldsider and its strict rules.

The friend code sharing stuff was no doubt a pain, both for users and moderators. It pained me to watch people get banned for FC sharing, so I would just send a warning if I caught anyone. Better off being warned than banned, in my opinion. Again, nobody liked it when I'd send those PM's, but I felt more like I was protecting users more than anything. If an NOA came across the deed by chance, it was a temp ban. And I noticed, with some exceptions, that once being warned people would be a little more discrete about sharing. Again, only to that user's benefit.

Yeah you had actually warned me. Then I hid in the Smash board with GM149.
I'm just glad this place allows us to connect to the world with the gems we've been given of Wi-Fi connectivity. <3

149 was great, and I was proud of him as he grew into the role. Again, another guy who was willing to go out of his comfort zone and try to manage the insanity of a board others were too scared to even try. That took balls considering he never played Smash Bros games before. But he was willing to learn. Great guy.

You were the other Lost Magic player, weren't you? I ended up striking a conversation with GM before realizing what KoH were because of his avatar. Had many a great Lost Magic talk with him. Think I may have spoken with you, too, if you were a Lost Magic player.

Yeah, the LostMagic board was one of my pet boards. I took a liking to it because a lot of the Power On (RP) users seemed to be attracted to the game, and they deserved a new home that got interactive attention. Relative to some of the other WiFi games (MPH, MKDS) the pace was a bit slower, but I'm glad with some of the beatings I took from users in the game. It felt nice, because people seemed genuinely happy on that board. There were lots of down-to-earth people over there.

Indeed they would. 4 years is a very long time, and people change too much within that period.
Nsider is better left off as a memory of yesteryear. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think it would depend on how Nintendo approached things in terms of format. NSider isn't the first time Nintendo has closed a community all of a sudden. A chat-based NSider closed in 2000, and users were furious about it and spread onto spinoff communities for the three years that it took for the Hyrule boards to pop up. Some veteran users signed up to try to be menaces, and others signed up to be helpful (and made up the bulk of the moderating staff for a few years). But most had moved on and had nothing to do with the new community.
If they tried to make a forum based community, I could see there being some carnage for a few months before it becomes boring. Particularly since they're now hosting their own forums, it's probably not quite as easy as when Lithium was an appendage. And particularly with the average user growing up and moving on to college/graduate studies, who really has the time to carry out petty community wars? I also have to wonder whether reverting back to a chat-based system would make a community more manageable for Nintendo.
It's all kind of a moot point, though. I sincerely doubt that we will see Nintendo open up another community area akin to anything we've become accustomed to. Dano was one of the pioneers in getting Nintendo involved with an online community, and Andy was in a way his successor. With most of the traditional NOA's gone, there isn't anyone left to fight for that kind of project.

Unfortunate, but true. This (and other sites) are the best we're gonna get.
Of course, I'll hold that this is the best site, but that's only because I've put so much into it.
