Question:
Which do you choose
Option 1: $500 for myself
votes: 8
Option 2: $1000 for charity
votes: 5
Suppose you win a contest or a giveaway and the prize is a choice of two boxes.
In one box is $500 dollars for yourself. In the other box is $1000 dollars for a charity of your choice.
The catch is that regardless of which box you choose, your full name will be posted publicly for the world to know which you chose.
Which do you choose?

1000 for charity
Because I make 500 every 2 weeks of working currently, which is something I don't mind currently. 500 extra isn't gonna do THAT much for me.
Also, charity needs it more than me.
$500 for myself. I have speeding tickets to pay off.
It's not like I haven't given to charity before. Besides, isn't that what we have rich celebrities pretending to be nice people for?
Depends on the situation. I don't really make much money currently, so anything would help.
If I can get a real job and support myself, then for charity.
Depends on the charity the $1000 is going to. But I probably would choose charity.
With the catch, charity.
Without the catch, myself.
I'm a cynic and a misanthrope, so my choice should be obvious. However, in order to deter the sarcastic comments that would probably follow my lack of description concerning my choice, I'll add that I'd keep the money. And I'd still keep the money even if I had a good job.
Besides, it's not like I haven't donated money to charity before. I was actually involved in one of those sponsor-a-kid-from-a-third-world-country things.
Money for myself.
I'm a firm believer that you only give to charity if you have more than enough for yourself.
I need money, so I'd take $500. Simple as that.
1. Start fake charity.
2. Donate $1000 to fake charity.

That's actually illegal.
$1000 to charity.
I mean, I could really use the money, and I mean REALLY REALLY use the money, but I know that I'm going to survive. Mainly because I have family supporting me right now while I'm in college. So, I really can't justify taking money for myself when it could go to others who probably need it more than I do.

what about a charity for underprivileged internet trolls
I've been having a ton of trouble trying to get a job, so I'm gonna go ahead and take the money for myself. I need it.
Let the world know that some 17-year-old who lives in a land full of 18+ only jobs needs to pay for car insurance. I don't care.

who cares what the world thinks
I voted for the Charity option. Only because I would burn through $500 in no time if I had that amount of free cash.
By that logic, you should've kept the money. The charity would use it faster than you ever could. =P

Exactly what I was thinking.
