OH MAH GAWD EVERYONE HIDE YOU'RE GOING TO DIE
BRB KILLING ALL BLACK CATS
But seriously. I'm sure this has been asked a million times (now a million and one!), but in the spirit of the occasion... Do you guys believe in superstitions?
I do, to an extent. I really don't, but I follow them and enjoy believing in them. Because it's fun. Honestly, you can walk under a ladder or whatever and find a million bad things about that day. But if you think about it, you can probably find a million good things about that day, too. I think it's really all about perspective. There are a lot of crazy coincidences in the world. But really, there are just as many times when coincidences didn't happen. We just focus on the times when strange things do occur that we forget that they don't occur just as often, probably even more.
So, no, I believe in perspective and forging ahead to shape the day the way you choose. But I enjoy superstitions for the fun. In the same way I enjoy horror movies and believing in a monster in my closet for the thrill of the scare.

*spends all day watching Friday the 13th Movies to see stupid rednecks and teenagers die*
I'm the kind of person who thinks these superstitions are a little crazy, but I play along with them because I think it makes life more fun.
Like an example from the Pokemon World: The Blue's Raticate story is a superstition based on implications, but it honestly makes the game much more interesting. The same thing applies to the real world too. It's kind of interesting when you go to a hotel and the room numbers skip from 212 to 214, 312 to 314, etc. Some buildings even skip over the number 13 in their floor numbers... which I found out firsthand when I stayed on the 15th floor of a hotel in Las Vegas once. It's a bunch of quirky little things but I love 'em.
Life would just be too boring without these silly things.
It's Friday 13th, yet Mighty Switch Force is half-off at the eShop till Sunday.
Uh, run for your lives?
Not particularly. Friday the 13th occurs several times a year, and nothing bad ever happens (to me at least).

Bad things happen to me several times a year, but they happen regardless of the day/date combo.

I've never really believed in superstitions. 13 is my lucky number.
Lucky 13. I've heard that one before, and I agree. On a side note, I have a pair of Osiris sneakers with the Lucky 13 brand logo.
Anyway, I'm sorry that I missed this thread when it was more relevant. To answer the OP, I'm in the same boat. I don't believe in superstitions or bad luck, but I do believe in good luck, strangely enough (not really though; I just like to say it). Like the rest of you, I keep most of the traditions for fun, or rather, I break them. Just because I can, I walk under ladders, spill salt, step on sidewalk cracks, etc., although I don't break mirrors because that's just making a mess. Regarding buildings, I've always hated how even-numbered house addresses go from 664 to 668. I like how they skip 666 out of fear, but I'd like it even more if they included it.
Friday the 13th is a great movie though. I'm planning on seeing the inferior sequel, but probably no more after that (they just get worse, apparently).
Speaking of date-specific horror movies, I recently saw Pontypool, an amazing Canadian psychological thriller/horror film. Not that it's relevant to the plot, but it happens to take place on Valentine's Day. Do yourself a favor and absolutely do not read any plot summaries whatsoever; it'll ruin the best part of the movie (in my opinion), and I'm not really referring to a plot twist. Just know that the movie definitely doesn't have a conventional premise.
By the way, if I ever got a black cat, I'd name him Salem (or her Mitzy).
