:) ;)
I got this game for free in a bundle with my GC and felt ripped off. It had gloomy music, too much backtracking, was too large and easy to get lost even with a map :O , and boring gameplay for a FPS. It needed more killing enemies and less finding powerups and artifacts. Seriously I mean you lose all of your upgrades within the first 30 minutes of the game. WTH!? The enemies were annoying and the final boss was annoying as heck. Took forever to beat Metroid Prime. The only thing I personally liked about the game were the graphics and the bosses. Meta-Ridley FTW! Though I have to admit Corruption looks a lot better.
Sounds like you have a case of "Preferring Shoot-em up FPS's and Disliking Metroid Prime Because it Involved Puzzles and Exploration Syndrome." In effect, the makers of Metroid Prime were trying to retain some of the exploration and collection aspect of the original Metroid Games while placing it in a 3-D first person shooter environment. The apparent lack of enemies is probably because each room has a set number that return after you leave and come back later. This was done to probably let people focus on defeating them before having to deal with the environment too much.
Good for you.
Metroid Prime is an FPA not an FPS, and Metroid Prime 3 is the same.
Exactly, just because it has a badass in powered armor and a first person view, doesn't make Metroid Prime an FPS at all, it has shooting elements, but it has as much, if not more exploration and environmental puzzles.
I liked Metroid Prime because it boasted a nice combination of puzzle-solving and enemy-killing. My favorite ppart was going back through to find all the Artifacts because it added a nice exploration element to the game. And even though there weren't lots of enemies, the enemies that I faced were still a fun challenge, especially the final boss.
I forgot that since this is the Metroid Board I might need this. *puts up flame shield*
That's just your opinion, I suppose. I personally love Metroid Prime -- in my opinion, it's the best game for the GameCube. The graphics were wonderful, the puzzles were great, and the AI was good. The boss battles were epic (Flaghara blew my socks off! :D), and the entire plot and atmosphere were excellently done. I'm still working through it, in fact, and plan to beat both it and MP2 before I pick up Corruption.
I loved that game and I got it and I beat it in 24 hours. I loved it and wouldn't stop playing it. But it is your opinion.
jeez graphics = epic win, hell , even my mom likes the graphics :D
Personal i liked the game but it just to easy. :-\

It seriously took you that long?
When I first played Prime, I was hooked....until all the upgrades were lost. :P I was hoping for a FPS (No research FTW!) but like most people said, I found a FPA instead. Good in some ways, bad in others I just don't enjoy Prime as much as I feel I should. :(

I wanted to get 100% but I'm still trying. Also I just checked I was 10 hours off. I actually beat it in14 hours.

I hated it at first because I couldn't beat the Parasite Qeen.:D
But then I actually got used to the controls and beat the game with relative ease.:P
The purpose of all the backtracking and powerups and not a ton of enemies and puzzles is because it's a Metroid game. If you've played a 2-D Metroid game, you'll understand. The 2-D games were, after all, Metroid's roots. They had to remain faithful to the old style of gameplay if they wanted to keep fans interested.;)
It's a FPS and adventure mixed together. The original MP sort of sounds just like Super Metroid, how it's easy to get lost and a lot of backtracking. I'm a die-hard Metroid fan, I like every Metroid game I've played except Super Metroid. (Please don't hate me for that) And the only two games I've played in the Prime series is MPH and MPC. But I'm still a die-hard Metroid fan.

100% in 7 1/2 for me
Backtracking was good and balanced. It was a good mix of action and adventure. If you buy First-Person Shooters just to shoot things and watch unrealistic amounts of blood splatter everywhere, go play Halo. Metroid Prime was very unique and obviously did well enough to deserve two more games afterward. I'm surprised you complained about the length as well--Do you want a game to be over in a short amount of time? Waste of money if you do.

The problem with halo is, when your done with story mode, there is only one thing to do, internet matches. Metroid keeps you in longer than halo does tho

Yeah...although, in a way, Metroid Prime and Halo shouldn't be compared. They're obscenely different. The only similarity is that they're first person shooters about people on other planets with spacesuits. The gameplay is obscenely different...Halo kills you in a few hits, it's about dodging everything. Metroid Prime is about lasting for long periods of time. Metroid Prime is more based on adventure and exploration, Halo is more based on shooting things. Metroid Prime was made for single player, Halo was made for multiplayer. I haven't played Halo, but there are some pretty obvious differences. To me, the two shouldn't be compared.
You need patience to enjoy a metroid game..but you should give corruption a try.
