Title: So, Games...
Post by: Commander Awesome on October 13, 2007, 07:48:10 PM
Thread is serious business, yet not serious enough to be on Serious board.  GTFO if you don't plan on being serious. Ya rly.

So, what type of game do you like more? The simple game or the more in-depth game?
Personally, it depends. The 2D Zelda games are really simplly designed games, yet are very fun.
Half-Life 2, is a complex game that is also quite fun.

I like games like Zelda that are simple yet fun, and some other games that are kinda complicated, but I don't really like complicated games that involve a lot of strategy. I suck at splinter call and metal gear solid.

I prefer in-depth games. The simple ones are fun, but they really don't hold my attention much. When I game, I like to sit down and play for at least an hour or so, if not more, provided I have the time. Simple games just don't hold my attention for that long, unless they are REALLY addicting. Of course, the ones that ARE that addicting can lead to hours on end sucked up, but....that's much harder to do than with a big, in depth game.

Both in all honesty, but I appreciate simple games more because they can hook you and impress you with deceptively simplistic gameplay mechanics.  Mario games are the perfect example of what may not necessarily appear deep at first glance, but has such a free-form way of playing it that it' becomes a deep experience to play.
