My computer can't run any games.
except halo, and then the graphics are suck. D:
What's the cheapest, good graphics card i could convince my parents to buy? D:
Current graphics stats.
I've got 512 MB of RAM and am running Windows XP Pro.
Shit, just about anything would be an improvement.
And get a gig of RAM.
A 128MB graphics card will only run you about $80 or $90, and it'll run Halo just fine.
And get at least a gig of RAM.
What's your CPU?
And I somehow doubt you have an AGP or PCIe slot for video.
This is DxDiag's information about my computer.
Yeah, I know dell sucks.
Alot.
How much will a gig of ram run me? I'm 13 which means no job, and my parents probably won't be too happy to spend much money about it, unless I ask for xmas, which means nothing else if it's about 100-200 $. We've got 5 kids here D:

First make sure you actually have an available slot for a graphics card... right now you've got onboard graphics, not even a dedicated card.

PCI and AGP are the two types of ports that support graphic cards (I think that PCI-e looks almost identical to regular PCI). If you have AGP, that's the best choice.
By the way, this picture is of the bottom left corner of an open computer when laying it down on the side with CD drives on the right.
Here's a more zoomed out one only marking AGP:

Well i'm trying to find out how to open my computer up right this minute.
it doesn't wanna open D:
Okay, I've got two open PCI slots out of 3.
One of them has a small uh, card in it.
yeah thats what i'll call it.

Eitherway, Dell's usually dont let you Add in another graphics card unless there's a dedicated one already.

You're using a Dell, so I assume that's a useless Ethernet/network card (useless because the motherboard usually has onboard Ethernet).

There is an option to buy a new motherboard that has AGP and supports ALL your current parts, but that will cost like $150-$200 or higher for a good one.
There are also some PCI cards, but they are all pretty slow. I don't think they'll live up to what you want them for.

The hell? AGP is complete poop compared to PCIe. And no motherboards have ISA anymore.
