I realized how overpowered, and thusly intercourse ing awesome, each weapon is.
Then I came to the conclusion that FPS developers are coming to a bad conclusion: Completely balancing the weaponry isn't the way to go. Give us a strong starting weapon, sure. But don't downgrade the other weapons.
Perfect Dark's multiplayer isn't about having the best weapon for the job, nor is it staying on the same balanced playing field. Each weapon has a weakness, though. It's your job to exploit it, and stack advantages together againsnt your opponent. It came down to each player's relative skill, and simple ingenuity.
For example, instead of just simply firing your weapon into a crowd, you could throw an N-Bomb into the middle, making everyone drop their weapon and turning it into a dazed melee as they wonder what the intercourse happened as you pick them all off. This, can of course, backfire.
Then you have the Farsight, a weapon that will never, I repeat, never, be done in an online game ever. You have an X-ray scope, and can shoot through walls. However, your back is vulnerable. A skilled player, once taken out, will attempt to flank the Farsight user. This can be countered by simply moving. However, that player is now aware of you using it, and will activley seek you out.
You see, FPS are becoming less and less about pure skill. Players are whining and calling everything that kills them 'noob'. For example... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1uYSWV4-Kg)
So sad.
