Post by: Pokesamrus on October 29, 2007, 06:27:31 PM
... I could type with my eyes closed. Can anyone else do this, you should?

(And no, I do not type like they show you in typing class in 5th grade, it's boring and pointless.

Typing classes are NOT the best way to learn to type. In my opinion, it's coming to the interwebs in using them alot. Heck, I've memorized everything on the keyboard about 6 months after my family first got a computer.
Oh yeah, and I type about 42-62wpm now.

dunno is there someplace online to check that? I guess it's rather a lot, no matter if I type "correctly" or not.

Typing with out looking at the keyboard......

Yes, I can very easily do that.

I couldn't until I took two courses of computer typing. They shut it down after I got the second class, and now I type like a pro.

The old NSider taught me how to touch type. I never could do it in elementary school.

So I went from a 15 WPM to ~45-60. :D

Yeah, i basically learned how to type from Nsider. >_>

it also helps that I play piano.

I can average about 80 WPM for most things.  it's a bit slower if I'm getting things off the top of my head, but alot faster if I'm replicating something (I've topped at over 126).

The keyboard is incredibly easy to memorize.  Much easier than, let's say, Trig Identities. -_-

I've been able to do that fooooorrr....

A while, to say the least.

Not exactly a talent, but it is nice to type fast enough so that people don't get annoyed.

I learned how to touch type (the correct way of typing on QWERTY) in 3rd grade, so I never have to look at the keyboard while I'm typing.  My WPM is anywhere from 75-85 normally.
