Title: More or less the best game ever.
Post by: Judas on November 04, 2007, 07:15:59 PM
Battle For Middle Earth II: Rise of The Witch King. I didn't even know this existed until yesterday, so I picked up Battle For Middle Earth Anthology at EB. The guy charged me $10 less than he was supposed to (awesome), so I got BfME I, II, and the expansion for $30.

I love it because it's not based on the movies, so you can play as Angmar and play a campaign mode that takes place in the North, etc.

I'm a bit of a Lord of The Rings fan, if you couldn't tell. :P

Yeah, Half-Life 2 actually is the best game I ever. I can't beat Episode 2, though. :(

If my computer could run II, I'd have it and Angmar too.

I love the first one though, finally an RTS that limits the buildings number AND the troop number in a way that lets my true strategic genius shine through. And I got it for $10 at Target.

I agreed with the admin. That means I get prestige points, hah.

That was actually one thing I really disliked about the first one, how you could only build things on the designated spots. For Gondor is was kind of cool because they got the castle, but for Mordor or Isengard it just looked stupid. II gives you the ability to makes walls anyway... I like the complete reign over how my settlement looks.  8)

I also disliked the low unit cap in the first one -- I always used a trainer to up it to around 1000. In II, 1000 seems to be the limit from what I've played, if you have enough slaughter houses, etc.

They're both wonderful games, though, and definitely go up there right under Starcraft and Rise of Nations and Dawn of War with the best RTS's ever. :P

I use Rohan anyways... Flexible defenses, a specialty of mine. But I can't handle using a lot of troops. I suck at those kinds of RTS's. So BFME I is the perfect game for me. I loved that first match I had against a troll spammer. I destroyed him with my Rohan archers. :)
