The Infamous Space Pirate: Ridley
(http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc278/rastapunkboy/ridly.jpg)
A Few Words From TamJammerz...Hi, my name is TamJammerz. Back in the old NSider forums, I was known throughout the Smash Bros. Board as "The Great Analyzer" (courtesy of SS_Dan for coming up with the title). I recently heard about the rebuilt NSider Forums, so I decided to sign up... And it seems a few other refugees did, also.
Why did I come here? Well, I came to, once again, spread my analyses for fans of the Smash Bros. franchise... And people familiar with my analyses will also be in for some newer content. I'm now providing a lot more in-depth info, details, and crisper movelists to be coupled with my articles.
This is the 1st Newcomer Analysis in my Newcomer Analyses series. Other Newcomer Analyses include:
1. The Leader of Star Wolf: Wolf O' Donnell (http://nsiderforums.net/index.php?topic=8328.msg95212#msg95212)
2. The Lord of Grandbell: Sigurd (http://nsiderforums.net/index.php?topic=8346.0)
3. The Shining Fighter Robo: Ray 01 (http://nsiderforums.net/index.php?topic=8694.0)
4. The Grand Master of Terror: Black Shadow (http://nsiderforums.net/index.php?topic=9018.0)
Who is Ridley?Game/Franchise - Metroid
Orientation - Evil
Other Info - Ridley's real name is "Geoform 187". "Ridley" is simply a codename. He is the most recurring antagonist in the Metroid games.
Chances of being in Brawl as a playable character - 95%
Ridley is, essentially, Samus Aran's arch-enemy. Ridley is one of the few remaining Space Dragons left alive after a series of mass genocide programs, carried out by the Galactic Federation, nearly brought his species to extinction. He is also the only surviving native of Zebes; it is believed that he was part of a colony that lived in Lower Norfair (What?!?!?!?! Isn't Norfair a stage?!?!? I smell something...).
Next to nothing is known of his pre-military background (if in fact he even had any), but it is safe to say that he made his way up the ranks until finally he was bestowed the designation of 'Supreme Commander of the Space Pirate Confederation. He also appears to have considerable favor amongst High-Command.
It is unclear whether or not Ridley simply doesn't die so easily, or if there are just multiple "Ridley's". Either way, Ridley has appeared in most, if not, all Metroid games to date.
Why should Ridley be in Brawl? There are infinite reasons for Ridley to join the party, but let me explain a few.
Ridley would, first and foremost, contribute to the Metroid franchise's very small roster in the Smash Bros. games. Second, Ridley would add to the slowly growing villain count in Brawl, building up for some intense, heated battles.
Also contributing to Ridley's chances is the Norfair stage. Now, why would Norfair be added without Ridley? That just doesn't make sense :O
A big argument against the bloke, though, is that he is simply, how they say, "too big". BAH!! Don't give me rubbish...
I bet anyone that, if Bowser was not in Melee and was yet to be announced in Brawl, haters would argue that Bowser was also "too big". Look how nicely Bowser fits in, though. That would be the relative size of Ridley in Brawl, so these arguments can be made invalid.
What would Ridley be like in Brawl?Ridley definately has some girth to him, maybe even rivaling that of Bowser's. Ridley would definately be counted as one of Brawl's "Heavy Hitters". Also, he has wings, which would most likely give him a 5 jump ability, along with gliding capabilities. I guess you can say he's like King Dedede (Of course, if KD has a multi-jump, which is very likely).
How about Ridley's offensive capabilities? Well, like most Heavy Hitters, Ridley's gonna pack a punch, a huge one, at that. Ridley has powerful wings, a sharp "beak", razor-sharp claws, and a piercing, spear-like tail. Ridley is more than eligible to fight in this game.
With all this, Ridley must have a downfall... And most of you probably already saw it coming. Ridley would be slow. With that heavy, armored skin, Ridley doesn't get around as gracefully as most characters. He would also be hindered by lag time in his techniques and moves. Also, because of his huge body, Ridley is an easy target to hit.
BUT... Ridley will excell in aerial combat. As you can see by my aerial attacks listed in my movelist, Ridley seems like a capable aerialist.
Overall Status
Power - 4.5/5 (Ridley's arsenal of natural weapons is sure to astonish his foes)
Range - 4/5 (Ridley is a huge fella', and has a better reach than other character's short arms)
Attacking Speed - 1.5/5 (Ridley's downfall, he won't be able to combo much with such slow attacks)
Running Speed - 2/5 (Again, Ridley is made of armored skin, which doesn't allow for much mobility)
Jumping - 4/5 (He has freaking wings)
Height - 4/5 (Tall)
Weight - 3.5/5 (Medium-Heavy)
This is almost better than Christmas for most of you... The movelist :D

Special AttacksB: Plasma Burst - This attack is chargeable. Ridley charges up by powering up a blast of plasma in his mouth wide open. When released, Ridley will shoot forward a yellow ball of plasma. When it comes in contact with anything, the ball will burst open, sending tiny little beams of plasma flying, which can damage foes.
Smash B: Terror Grip - Ridley rushes forward, with his wings extended back and his arms extended out, as if he's gliding. When he comes in contact with an opponent, Ridley will latch on to them, spin upwards and then come diving headfirst into the ground, creating an explosion and blasting the enemy away.
Down B: Cyclone - This attack is chargeable. When released, Ridley will spin on the ground with his wings extended out at blinding speeds. Enemies will be continuously damaged in the attack and will be launched away when Ridley finishes the move, ending in a roaring stance. Midway into the move, Ridley will spin faster and faster, leading into the ending stance. The more you charge up the attack, the longer Ridley will spin. This attack can also reflect projectiles.
Up B: Wind Cutter - Ridley simply soars upwards at lightning fast speeds. Use the control stick to direct Ridley's soaring path. Enemies can get damaged if Ridley passes through them.
Final Smash: Sky Splitter - Ridley roars and dashes forward. If he comes in contact with an opponent, he'll fly up with them in his hands, drop them in midair, and then fly off the screen. Ridley will then keep them suspended in the air by contiuously soaring back and forth on and off the screen, thrusting through the suspended foe. Afterwards, Ridley will then soar upwards through the foe, launching them up, and come down on them from above, creating a lightning bolt that strikes downward through the opponent and onto the stage. If Ridley does not grab an opponent during the beginning of the Final Smash, then the Sky Splitter will fail.
Further CommentsScrewed up a little on the Down B... Sides pretty cruddy, but I guess it's okay. Also, if there's any moves you need clarifying, just ask, and I'll try to re-explain it to you ;)
Also, please let me know if I left out any key facts or info :)

I hope you had fun and enjoyed reading this ;)
Thanks :P
*claps* Bravo.
Do the Animal Crosser now. Look in my thread about the Nsider2 thing. ::)
sweet.
You should check out my char. dedication thread here.
Should be on the first page...
....................................................-_-............................................-_-...and...my final result is, he will be a boss or a gimmick.
You are my hero ;D But anyway I thing Ridley would have to be pretty light if he can fly. One of the main reasons birds fly is because their bones are hollow and therefore much lighter. This would lead me to believe that Ridley would be pretty light and fast with that in mind his power should probably be cut a bit to average hitting power but thats just my thoughts on the matter.
I'm kinda split on this Ridley speed discussion, here...
How about I just give him 3 jumps? That way, he retains his reasonably stocky build while losing his "cheapness" by me taking off two jumps ;)
It's good to see you back TamJammerz. :)
Good Analysis by the way!
