What exactly is happening? I got Spyware yesterday, so I downloaded Ad-adware, and spybot. Which got rid of the problem for me, after I ran a scan in both.

Depends what software you're using.  Some stuff is just too tough to get rid of.  If you end up with something that keeps coming back repeatedly, you've likely got a downloader.  If you end up with a downloader, you're probably screwed.  People can give you advice, but it would definitely take some work to get rid of it, if possible at all.

Most likely, your best bet is to reinstall Windows.  To be totally sure, reformat your whole drive.  If you do that, you lose everything.  It's a last resort, but one you may be stuck with, depending on the virus.

Try an AVG scan (http://free.grisoft.com).  If you don't get anywhere with that or any others, you're either gonna have to find a specific solution for that virus, or reinstall.

What's the name of the virus?

Yeah, like Genius said, some are difficult to get rid of.

I'd suggest disconnecting your computer from the internet and restarting in Safe Mode and running the scan from that.

get the following and the latest updates

Spybot Search and destroy 5.1, (get the latest immunizations too)
Ad-Aware 2007 Free
A Squared Free
AVG 7.5 Free

If you don't have a real firewall (windows firewall ain't real) get Zone Alarm or some other free one

Get CCleaner, this will repair any registry changes spyware or a virus may have made

also check out startup monitor, this handy little program will inform you if anything tries to get into your startup folder without your permission.

disconnect from the 'net and scan for a day (make sure you run a defrag first makes things smoother)

What is THE best way to get rid of it?.
Kill it with fire. (But then, you wouldn't have a computer)
Try manually deleting it.

the best way to get rid of viruses is to find out what their names are, first of all.

after that, you do a google search and follow the instructions (assuming that Kaspersky/AVG don't work at first).
