Remember Super Mario 64? You were thrust into the game without too much tutorial. You didn't have to read the Billboards and the Lakitu Bros. showed up twice. Now look at Galaxy, I love the game, but the characters never shut up for the first two levels. Look at Mario World, A Link to the Past, etc... you jumped straight into the game. These tutorials that so many games have these days feel unnecessary, unwanted, and I can't think of another word that starts with un. In Corruption all you had was text blurbs that popped up. I think that's the way to go. OR OR! Remember the Instruction Booklet. Do people even know what a booklet is anymore?
Yeah, I hate 0th levels made especially for tutoring, especially long, mandatory ones. Mega Man X5 had one, but it was completely optional. Yoshi's Island has a short one, which miffs me a little, but most of your "learning" is optional.
I think it's stupid that they force you to sit through what you can read in the booklet.
IF YOU NEED HELP, CHECK OUT THE ENCLOSED INSTRUCTION BOOK
...yeah, some tutorials are helpful, but tutorials like the Excite Truck one are kinda annoying D:
It's better to have a Mario Party-esque tutorial, where you can choose to either skip the entire thing or watch a freaking 45 minute explanation of every rule.

That would be perfect.

"DO A BARREL ROLL (Z)!!!"
No.
Personally, the tutorials are fun for getting easy stuff, otherwise pointless.
Although it's optional, Warcraft III's is so intercourse ing annoying.
"MOVE THRALL TO THE BANNER"
Well, more like
"MOVE THR- GOOD JORB NOW- GOOD, NOW GO AT- VERY GOOD, USE CHA- NOW GO TO THE PRO-
/cutscene"
It's annoying as hell.
booklet...?
Hmm... what were some annoying ones...
FFTA. EVIL. TOOK FUCKING FOREVER.
Uh... Sonic Heroes has a particularly annoying tutorial but I haven't seen it mentioned yet.
I think it should either be an optional tutorial or the game should place NPCs in the first few levels that you don't have to talk to (like Omochao in Sonic Adventure 2 or Toads in whatever Mario games)
