how many of you read this book in elementary school? I remember it being very hard to get in the library, you would have to put your name on a waiting list, there were three of them, I need to read these again.

here is a pic to help remember

B9M

I did, and they were pretty scary. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.

Zovistograt

I lol'd in elementary school at them more than was scared but...

NOW WE SING THE HEARSE SONG OLOL

Don't you ever laugh when the hearse goes by
For you may be the next to die
They wrap you up in a big white sheet
From your head down to your feet
They put you in a big black box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks
All goes well for about a week
Then your coffin begins to leak.
The worms crawl in,
The worms crawl out,
The worms play pinnicle in your snout
They eat your eyes
They eat your nose
They eat the jelly between your toes
A big green worm with rolling eyes
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes
Your stomach turns a slimey green
And pus pours out like whipping cream
You spread it on a slice of bread
And that's what you eat when you are dead!

100% from memory heck yeah

I loved that book. My 4th grade teacher had a copy and at snack time a bunch of us kids would go into the coat closet and take turns telling stories. :P

I remember four stories from there. One was about a boy who found a toe in the ground and brought it home to eat for dinner and he had it in his room and a zombie thing broke into the house and killed the boy for his toe.

Another was about a couple driving down a road and they hear an emergency broadcast about an escaped burglar who had a hook for a hand. They get a flat tire and the guy goes out but doesn't come back. The girl drives home and she gets out and finds a hook stuck in the door.

There was also one where there was a murderer in the backseat of some woman's car. The woman was driving home and a man behind her was following her, flashing his headlights at her. She thought he was following her to kill her so she got home and called the police. The man pulled into her driveway and explained that there was a murderer in the backseat of her car and that he flashed to lights to keep the man down in cover. Then he proceeds to beat the crap out of murderer along with the cops. :)

Then there was The Viper which I'm going to attempt to retell to the best of my ability:

One night there was an old woman in an apartment complex watching TV. Suddenly, the telephone rang. She picked it up and asked who it was. A quiet, raspy voice said "I am the viper. I'm coming over now."

Frightened, the old women hung up immediately. The phone rang again. She answered. "I am the viper, I'm almost there." She hung up and called the police when she heard knocking at the door. She peered through the eyehole and saw a small man holding a squeegee.

He said, "I am the viper. I've come to vip and vash and vip your vindows."

Yeah, I know it was. It's been so many years that I forgot all the details and stuff. :P Another big hit at my school were Shel Silverstein's poem books "A Light in the Attic", "Falling Up", and "Where the Sidewalk Ends". :P
