when you send in a DS for repair the give you a refurbished one instead.....trust me they did that to me for a non working L and R buttons

It should still be under warranty.
Just call nintendo or go on their website and follow the instructions to fix it.
since its under warranty, repairs are free.

Put watah in yo cartridge and tell em "it broke". They fix it in no time, you get new DS.
