http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games

This site i do not trust any more, or is this really ture?

A question I have always asked,

"How many copies did all metroid games sell"?

Well i got that problem completed with this shocking news for me, and maybe you too.

My first shock was that old Gen games sell much more copies as the new Gen games, like the snes. it sold 20 million copies for Super Mario World. Now what about Super Metroid for in the top selling game list, as for it was one of the best games of all time everyone says............

Well that was werid. (40 on the list)
Either someone made this chart wrong or casper the game sold more the super metroid, and casper sold 1 million.
I better look at another chart or web site......

I can't find any other web sites, it just weird to me.

And i know SM sold more then 1 million copies.

As for Metroid Prime, it did pretty good for a Nintendo Game Cube (being last place on market)
But never had a chance beating Halo Combat Evolved with 5 million copies sold.

Metroid Prime sold 2 million copies but then again, it did beat Resident Evil 4.

The first metroid game, well it seems to have not gone on the list, and i thought people saw it as a great game.
Metroid 2 return of samus, well i have no clue as for i don't think it sold very well either.
Metroid Prime 2, well it did not do that good by looks, and got owned if you compare it to halo 2 sales.
Metroid Zero Mission, well a remake of the first game never sells to the top, most of the time.

Metroid Prime Hunters had a bad single player, but great online for the Nintendo DS

But not even selling 1 million must be a complete lie

This fact may give a little reason that it sold over 1 million copies

"Players logged into the WFC over 2.5 million times to play Metroid Prime Hunters in the first month the game was available." From Nintendo Power

Of course not much there but one person logging in 1000 times is alot, unless you love the game like some have done i bet.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption was going to be the best first person shooter!

I don't beleave that any more but it is very good, but are sales good too?

Can i beleave this, no

I am pretty sure that Nintendo wii MP3C has sold more then 1 million copies, saying that Super Mario Gaxlay is on that list.

Still, the fact of not selling a million can't be ture.
And this game is very good, but halo 3 out sales Metroid again.

Metroid Fusion did pretty good by far means on a Game Boy Advance
Selling 1.13 million copies US is not to bad

This game was short, no hard mode, but the game made up for that you coould say.

And being the last Metroid game in time line up to date, no one knows what is next. I wonder?

By the facts we seen, what is ture and what is not ture.

Metroid over all seems to have a limit of 2 million copies sold per game.

And as seen, metroid is not the best seller title here, but they are very good games.

The more Ture facts

Here's the sales data I dug up. I'm pretty sure it's accurate.

NES Metroid sold 2.73 million copies, which apparently makes it one of the top-ten sellers for the NES.
Super Metroid sold 1.42 million copies, which means that the Wikipedia chart was wrong. It should be right by Dragon Quest III, and between Final Fantasy IV and Killer Instinct.
Metroid 2: Return of Samus sold 1.76 million copies, which puts it above Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters.
Metroid Prime Hunters sold 0.65 million, and sold 100k copies on launch. I can see people logging in 25 times on average in a week. This game could have sold a lot more units if the single player mode was better and less repetitive.
Metroid Fusion sold 1.55 million copies, but apparently nobody could find a source listing this for the Wikipedia article. This places it higher than Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
I can't find data for Zero Mission, but it's over 500k somewhere. Apparently remakes don't sell all that well.
Metroid Prime sold 2.77 million copies, which is much higher than the article places it. It should be listed as the 5th best selling game for the console.Metroid Prime 2 sold 1.24 million copies, around the same as Super Mario Strikers.
Metroid Prime 3 sold 0.88 million copies, but it will probably cross the 1 million mark soon.Metroid Prime Pinball sold only about a quarter million copies. This game was the lowest seller of the entire series, but that's because it's not a traditional Metroid game.

That totals around 13.7 million units, which averages 1.37 million per game, which isn't bad.
Notice how two of the games sold over 2 million copies, so 2 million can't be the limit.
Metroid actually sells fairly well, with only 3 games, not counting MP3C since it's not done selling yet, not crossing the 1 million mark. I agree that they are great games.

Interesting.  It really shows how under-appreciated Metroid is, and how much Nintendo tends to neglect advertising of it.

If the games were advertised more, they MIGHT have sold more units.

Or so I think.

If Nintendo didn't neglect advertising of Metroid...  Nintendo might lose it's rep for people outta the know that they don't just make game for kids.  Metroid might sell more, I probably might have known about Metroid earlier in my life, and people might be talking about it more.

Man, it's one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes...

I know, and there addvertisements are sad

They are showing that nintendo is for little kids and love E rated games (most want M games now)

And myself i am buying a PSP because DS has any other fetures then to just play games(okay, that line had nothing to do with metroid.)

I've never played HALO, come to think of it I don't even know anyone who owns HALO.  Everyone gamer I know loves metroid though, but thats probably because we all started playing it 20 years ago, long before HALO existed.
I too think that the sales data is totally off.  I mean, to this day super metroid is one of the greatest games ever.  The day it came out I remember waiting in a small crowd outside K-Mart to get a copy.  That was probably the first game in YEARS where people gathered before a store opened just to score a copy of a game.  It had to have sold alot more than what they're saying it did.
Back then Nintendo was the undisputed king of the video game industry, and with Wii sales going way beyond sony and microsoft it looks like they will be back on top, and hopefully metroid will be discovered by more gamers who missed its heyday.

There's a lota wisdom there.  I do feel skeptical about some of that sales data, too.

And it was one of the first games to have that happen to it?  Nice.  That means some of those games HAVE to have better sales.
