One of my acquaintances has asked me to get all the parts he needs for a computer.

I know a little bit, like what he'll be needing, but I dunno what exactly to get him D:

I started out with a motherboard, and thought this would be a good one at a reasonable price. Can someone halp?

First of all, what'll he be using the computer for?
What OS will he be using?
And does he prefer Intel or AMD?
edit: oh yeah, and price range.

Oh wow. I forgot to mention all of that XD

It's going to be mainly gaming. He's going for Vista (Why is beyond me), and he's not exactly computer savvy, so I would think AMD would be the choice here...

Hey hey don't diss on vista. Does he already have a copy? if not, seeing as it's for gaming i'd say get 4GB of RAM and a x64 copy of vista, probably home premium (what I have).
with personal opinion...
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103251 Phenom 9550 Quad core at 2.2GHz ($195)
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 4GB DDR2 800 CORSAIR $86.50 ($66.50 after Mail in rebate.)
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150267 XFX  GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit w/ COD4 free $249, 239 after rebate.

Still will need a case and psu.
don't know how much he's willing to spend though, so you can change stuff here as you see fit and shop around.

Working on the case now, however, I think I'll be needing the rest, since I'm like lost now ;-;

What's his price range?
Because personally, i'd reccomend going intel with a Q6600.
if he gets that card, he'll need a case that can fit it, it's a monster.

He doesn't want to go over 1500, really.

Also, today we customized a computer and got 1300 or so. It's a Dell, and it looked decent. I don't remember the specifics, however.

don't buy premade, building it is wayyy cheaper.
i'll look and see about what price switching to intel is.

i'll edit in a few minutes.

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141005
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16819115042
Also, toss in another 8800 or switch to the 9800 and get 2.

so lesse..
the intel before case and psu is: 1171 (with 2 8800s.)
AMD is: 927.
dispite the 200 diff in price, i'd go intel. you could always drop that processor to a q6600 and that'd drop the price $150.
you'll want an SLI supported power supply too. does he have a hard drive or does he need one?
