Is Zelda really a princess in this game?

A prince or princess is usually (not always) the offspring of a king or queen or at least the spouse of one. A prince or princess can also be a powerful ruler of an area, but not necessarily in the direct descent of the king, queen, emperor, or empress. But usually that person is subordinate to another sovereign. Archaic forms of prince or princess can mean a sovereign ruler of a state, but is that the intention in the Zelda games?

In A Link to the Past, the King is present. In Ocarina of Time, I don't remember seeing the king, but he is alluded to. In TWW, Tetra is in disguise, but she is the heir to the throne of Hyrule. In Twilight Princess, it appears that Zelda is the ruler, no king of Hyrule is pictured or even mentioned as being in existence in the present day. So, shouldn't she be technically the Queen since she is the official ruler of the realm? It seems she's the sovereign ruler. That is unless of course Hyrule is a subject state to another larger state, but that is never mentioned.

anyway, share your thoughts.

That's strange. I guess that Nintendo just lost sight of that in the process of making the game. Perhaps to them, they see her not as a queen because she's not married?

It does seem rather odd to say "Queen Zelda." :P

Well, Elizabeth I was Queen of England, and yet she was unmarried.

No king?  Heck, there's no sign of any governing body whatsoever!   :D  I mean honestly, when Hyrule Castle is trapped under Ganondorf's barrier, does the town react at all?  NO!  They don't even notice it.  For whatever reason Hyrule Castle has been out of the lives of Hylians for some time.  The ruins help to point that out inside and outside the main castle.  Which only makes one wonder, what happened?

Me, I think they were negligent to detail when faced with making a Wii version of the game.  Thanks Nintendo, glad you could put your exalted Wii over us AND your games.
