My friends at 8th Circuit keep pumping out Holiday Guides, but this one isn't mine. The topic: Albums.

I don't agree with putting Kanye on there, nor Chinese Democracy (a tad overrated), but ok. Thoughts?

The holidays are just around the corner, and you want to buy music instead of downloading it? We'll here's a list of albums that will definitely be worth those 13 dollars no matter what genre you listen to!

808's & Heartbreak by Kanye West:

Kanye West is back with a new critically-acclaimed pop album, yes, a POP album. This album can only be described as an experimental album. All of the tracks contain autotune and there is barely any rapping. I think this is a very good album for you to buy if you enjoy artists such as T-pain.

This album definitely gets 9/10.

Viva la vida or death and all his friend by Coldplay:

This a great album by coldplay and it would make the most perfect gift for anyone. The album is filled with a lot of good music. Coldplay did a great job, and the lead single "Viva la vida" has got to be one of the best songs they have ever created.

I would give this album a 9/10 also.

Chinese Democracy by Guns n' Roses:

I wouldn't really advice this album, but hey, people loved Guns n' Roses back in the day. Axl Rose finally released this 14 year old album after going through what seemed like hundreds of replacements in his bad. The riffs in the album are okay, and hey, if you love Buckethead, there's a decent amount of shredding on the album.

I, however, give this album 5/10, because Gun n' Roses isn't really what I listen to regularly.

Rock n' Rave by Benny Benassi:

Benny Benassi hits a home run with this album. If you want a great techno album that can pump you up with adrenaline, buy this album. I bought this album when it first came out and I listen to it probably a thousand times every week. If you liked Satisfaction, you are really going to love this album.

I give this album an 8/10.

Circus by Britney Spears:

Britney Spears is making good music again? Well if you like pop then yes! This album has been stuck on the number one spot on iTunes since it has come out. The album as a whole sounds like the old stuff she did plus that weird Timbaland sound. It is an okay album, but again I don't really listen to Pop so I guess if you like her music, buy it.

Evolver by John Legend:

John legend did a really good job on this album. The way the whole album flows is unique, and it kind of reminds me of old Stevie Wonder songs. It's really sad, however, that albums such as this one don't get the same radio play and mainstream coverage as some of the other artists in this article. If it did, I'm sure a lot more people would listen to John legend. I give this album a 8/10.

Death Magnetic by Metallica:

Well, people said Metallica lost a lot of their fans with St. Anger, but this album is nothing like that. The album sounds like their older stuff, and so I think that this album is going to get a lot of their fans back behind them. If you like Metal in general, you can't go wrong with this album. I give this album 7/10, because it's not exactly like their old stuff, but it's also not St. Anger.

American Gangster by Jay-Z:

You know, until Blueprint 3 comes out, you cannot get anything more raw or amazing for Jay-z than American Gangster. It is a great album, and it really brings that Jay-Z coolness with it. If you love rap, then definitely check this album out. It really gives me hope as to what Hip Hop is going to develop into.

I give this album an 8/10.

Bedlam in Goliath by The Mars Volta:

Just one of the greatest albums I have listen to ever. If you are a musician, or if you love bands that don't like to be in any specific genre, this album will knock your socks off. This album actually got me into this band, and if you listen to it while playing Oblivion, then you will realize that this maybe the best album ever written.

I give this album a 10/10.

A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! by Stephen Colbert :

JUST BUY IT. DON'T EVEN ASK WHY. This album is both hilarious, and it carries a lot of good guests musically. Plus, you get to hear Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart do a duet, and in case you don't know:
STEPHEN COLBERT + JON STEWART + XMAS SONGS = AWESOMENESS

I give this album a 100000/10.

*As always, clicking the link shows it in the way it was meant to be seen.*

Also, comments on the writing itself would be cool, and I'll pass them along.

I'm definitely surprised to see Kanye included.
If anything it's a step back for the guy.
Kanye is a RAPPER not a SINGER.
Auto-Tune is the reason why the album would be bad and why artists like T-Pain are absolutely terrible.

That being said, I'm glad Viva La Vida was included.
I absolutely loved that album.

For Christmas, I'm personally asking for Coldplay's EP "Prospekt's March", The Killers' "Day and Age", Jason Mraz's "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things", and I'll probably ask for an album of The Beatles.

Zovistograt

Decent list I guess...it is something for everyone.

Nice that there's some electronic and TMV on there ^_^

Kaz

um excuse me

where is Portishead's Third

that is the only must-buy of this year

HTA!

Eww... Chinese Democracy and Death Magnetic?
They were okay.. but not anything worth buying in my opinion.

Kanye and Coldplay... how about no... Coldplay is sort of mediocre in my eyes, and Kanye is a cancerous growth on the testicles of the music industry.

Britney can go die in a hole.  >:(   (kidding)

The list could use some work, but then again not many memorable albums came out this year. And if they did... they were Hip-hop garbage.
I would replace Chinese Democracy with Black Ice... and Circus with a brick labeled "Smash into face repeatedly"

Stephen's album is pure unadulterated fun though... will definately be asking for that.

Matt

Only one out of that list that I would consider buying, is Kanye West's "808's & Heartbreak", and I already have "Bedlam in Goliath". Guns 'n Roses and Coldplay are both overrated, Guns 'n Roses not as much, but Axel Rose is a vagina cleaning devicebag. John Legend and Britney Spears are good, but I wouldn't buy any of there albums. Stephen Colbert Christmas album? I don't know, I would have to hear something off of it first. Finally, I don't really like Metallica, Jay-Z, and Benny Benassi.

Mystic

Kanye's 808's and Heartbreak is a lot better than I thought it would be. Comparing it to anything by T-Pain is an insult. T-Pain sounds like poop. Kanye can actually pull off the auto-tune somewhat well. Cher still wins at it though.

Britney's Circus is awesome. Better than I imagined. Mannequin is a great dance tune, Troubly, Rock Me In, and such songs are weird and fun. If U Seek Amy and Blur are awesomes.

It's not on the list...but it should be...
Beyonce's I Am...Sasha Fierce should be bought too. One of the few good albums this year. Beyonce's songs like If I Were A Boy and Ava Maria are beautiful and amazing. The Sasha songs like Scared of Lonely, Single Ladies, and Halo and amazingly awesome.

The others I haven't listened to, so I can't say.
