Okay, so the Windows 7 beta was released to the public today. I decided, "why not?" since my brother was going to be burning a disk for himself so I might as well install it on my desktop.

Everything goes well, installs fine, works fast but one problem, I can't get online.

I have a wireless card that seems not to work too well with Windows 7 or something. My wireless card is the Netgear WG311v3. I installed the latest drivers(thanks to my laptop) and followed all the instructions but I always get the same problem in the end(I've done this like 3 times now)

When I go to the Device Manager the card shows up and all, but if I go to the properties in the "Device status" box it says

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

I have changed the PCI slot it was in as I was told might work from someone in chat but it still fails to work.

Anyone able to help, or find help? Please?

Obviously, the drivers aren't Windows 7 compatible.

I was told that most Windows Vista drivers would work in Windows 7 ;-;

This wireless card is a pain in the ass! I needed to go through bull poop to get it to work in Linux too!

Well Netgear is a fairly large company, I thought the Microsoft would have made their poop compatible.

Also, get hardwired. Seriously.
That would either require moving my computer 2 stories up, or a really, really long cord.

[/quote]Really really long cords are available. When you find one, tell me where you did.

Friendly Hostile

Try plugging in hardwired to see if everything is up to date that way.

lol.
you're using the vista drivers, right?
go to device manager and uninstall and reinstall it. (the PCI bus or card or whatever.

Talked to my brother, it seems that Windows is trying to protect itself from getting a BSOD and such. Which means I have to find a way past the security.

go look under the security thing under control panel.

Problem solved.

I spent all of my night searching Google for answers. I eventually came across that by pressing F8 right before Windows starts you get a menu, similar to what you get with any other Windows. But this has an option to "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement". Doing this defiantly worked(Otherwise I wouldn't be saying this =p).

There is a downside to that fix though. You would have to go into that menu every time Windows booted. But no worries! Shortly after I found the solution to that! There is a program called "ReadyDriver Plus 1.1" that will change the boot settings so it automatically selects that option for you!

I have yet to test this ReadyDriver Plus 1.1 though. So, I can't be 100% sure it works.
