Another fighting game????

I heard rumors that there have been a couple of other fighting games that have been made by Nintendo besides SSB. I believe one featured a robot that was developed by scientists as a fighting machine. I believe the game was for NES or SNES, but I don't know the name of the game. Does anyone remember??? ???? ???? ????
