Are using guides to help you complete a game cheating?

Yes, it's a game. You shouldn't need help with it.

No, sometimes a game may be sadistic in difficulty.

No, guides aren't cheating. Codes are cheating. Guides rock.

Okay, it depends on the game.

Games like Mario Party, NOOOOOOOO!

Games like Metroid, Zelda, where they sadistically hide things (particularly Metroid...  trust me...)

BTW, I have a winning strategy for the Emperor Ing on Metroid Prime 2: Echoes if anyone is stuck...

If you don't find the treasures and rewards for themselves then why bother doing it at all.

Strategy guides are there to baby people through the game who don't have the patience or will to find the extra's on there own. If they don't have those traits then they don't deserve to get them.

I don't use guides.

This is what I have been thinking. What is the point of hunting down a major weapon or treasure if you already know where it is? The creators should put some hint in the game that it actually exists, however.

What is this Emperor Ing strategy, red7js? Is it Mutated or full battle?
