Japan Forces Poor Countries To Translate Hentai

The Philippines has launched into a hysterical drive to demonise Japanese erotica, with their legislature proclaiming that "hentai is child pornography", but now there are even claims that Japan is forcing poor countries to service their international child pornography empire, with the Philippines supposedly the number one victim of this monstrous exploitation.

A ludicrous example of this supposed practice is proffered in the form of a lady who is "forced to translate hentai loli manga to support her family":

The anonymous lady, in her twenties and a resident of Manila, laments that she is forced to support her two daughters by translating depraved Japanese ero-manga featuring school children, for which she receives an income of some $300 monthly (which is in fact the same level as a Filipino civil servant and an enviable salary for the country, so we must wonder at her desperation).

"When I first saw these horrible manga, I was so shocked I didn't know what to make of them." She seems to have got the better of these emotions and went to work translating them all the same. Her poor daughters even saw her work on her computer once, after which she told them never to go near the PC, lest they be poisoned by the insidious Japanese hentai contagion.

She apparently cannot actually speak Japanese, but "uses an online dictionary" to produce something approximating a translation.

Supposedly the office she works at employs ten people to translate ero-anime and manga for consumption in countries the world over, operating 24 hours a day as a loli-translation mill of sorts. No specific titles are mentioned.

The lady explains that the operation is probably situated in the Philippines because of low labour costs and a lack of regulation. Presumably she will be happy to be looking for a new highy paid job soon...

The account itself originates from Japan's foremost gutter rag Mainichi, apparently still intent on doing its part to sully Japan's good name after being forced to drop its English language hentai news site by disgusted domestic readers.

Since loli ero-manga is hardly ever translated commercially into English, we have to wonder whether their story is anything but fabricated propaganda, although the Filipino hysteria is genuine enough... If true though, it would certainly shed some light on the quality of translations in use for English language manga.

This is not all, according to a legislator: "There are even cases where poverty forces parents to make their children model just to make enough to survive."

It should be noted that in spite of the recent flurry of law-making on the subject, the Philippines remains a nation on the lolicon sex tourist's travel itinerary...

I highly doubt that these claims are totally true because of the nature of the hentai industry, but still...I'm of the opinion that loli hentai is creepy but it's not really CP.  It's more of erotic art.
