QuoteIt's safe to say that everyone has a little something planned for the NEXT next generation, but I don't suppose we have to worry about buying more systems soon. Still, Iwata told Bloomberg that once developers begin to say that improvements to games can no longer be made for Wii, then the Big N will be ready to bring out its next console. The man also added "None of our developers is making that kind of complaint."

I'd say Christmas time 2011.....because lots of stuff are played for 2010.

2011 is the typical five year lifespan of a system in terms of Nintendo systems.
Besides, the technology for the Wii is already seeing age. Microsoft and Sony are quickly catching up. Keeping the Wii (even with the WMP) won't work much longer...

I'd imagine it would be a 2012. With the huge content of 2010 coming, they will still be riding sales on it over the next year. I imagine we'll start seeing the system in 2010, though, it just won't be quite ready for release.

Most companies start work on their next console as soon as the new one is released. The Wii was in development in one form or another from the launch of the GCN to early 2006. I have no doubt that Nintendo already has a pretty good idea about what they are doing for the next generation.

I do see Nintendo pulling a PS2 with the Wii, holding onto it as long as possible and slowly lowering prices. That sub-$100 price point still manages to move PS2s.

Tuppy frightens me with his knowledge of legacy technology.

Not to mention Sony is actually smart enough to try and market stuff in the more developed South American countries. I hear the PS2 has been doing pretty well in places like Argentina all things considered.
Spending less for a home console than all handhelds is also a major plus.

Kind'a old news (as far as I've done my research) but I'm glad to hear it again.

I just hope that Nintendo learns from their mistakes and do it right.

They can please Nintendo Loyalist AND Non Gamers by giving them both what they want.........
Not just leaning one 1 (non gamers) and then throwing hardcore gamers a bone once every 9 months.  :|

UGH, Nintendo Pisses me off so much.

Over all, I'm gonna make myself be disappointed if they don't step it up. (They as in Nintendo).
