Is the Halo series overrated?

Halo 1 - A great, fine-crafted FPS game that made console FPS a household name.

Halo 2 - Not too great, but fun online.

Halo 3 - Great co-op, mediocre story, mediocre online, and extremely over hyped.

Overall, the series is pretty good.  Overrated, but that doesn't mean it's not good.

Overrated?  Of course.

But, Halo DID have some revolutionary moments.

And it's still fun.

So, yeah, you can bash it for being overrated, having it's own flaws, but it's still fun anyways.  It's hard to truly hate on it.

but the games are made for multiplayer, right?  I haven't played enough Halo 3 multiplayer to talk about it (even though I own the game), but Halo 2's multiplayer was great.  Too bad that for LAN parties the setup was so ridiculously moronic.

No, but seriously, the original Halo was cool.  The weapons in future games were nerfed (mostly in terms of ammo capacity.)

Halo 3 multiplayer is pretty fun if you can get over the fact that the battle rifle is waaaaay too overpowered this time around.

is it?  The noob combo (BR & PP) was OP in halo 2, if you were at a decent range.  Otherwise, the BR was two chest shots, half of a chest half of a head for a kill, if i remember correctly (it might have been 3, then one up towards the head)).

The Pistol was hardcore in the original, I remember that.  I played halo trial, and if the weapons were unchanged, then yes, the pistol was OP lol

Only after Halo 1.

Halo 2 was poopty, and while Halo 3 was a step in the right direction, it still didn't match the amazing level of Halo 1.

tbqh i find halo 3 to be incredibly boring.  I can only ever stand to play it with friends, and the whole way it works just irks me.  Random spawn placement, spawning while surrounded by enemies, autolock aim, spawn camping, tons of nades...

I just can't go back after TF2 :\

You know can turn off auto-lock aim right? Also, I haven't encountered much spawn camping in any Halo, and grenades aren't too much of a problem for me.

But yeah, TF2 is much better ;D.
