Since I waste my money on useless things, I have those awesome $25 pens that glide on the page without a sound, but costs like $5 per refill.
Shit's great bro

Mechanical pencils.

Body of a pen. Awesomeness of a pencil. Yessir.

Definitely pens. Especially the ones with a thin yet smooth tip (as in, they write in fine print but also require nearly no force to write and are quiet). An easy to find and really good (in my opinion) kind of pen is the Pilot G-2 line. They're also very colorful <3

Regular pencils are among the worst writing devices available. All the sawdust-like wood shavings wind up everywhere and the pencils' outside edge are very rough and make one's hand sore after a while. They even tend to have absolutely horrible erasers often; even the most common pink eraser sucks compared to either white mechanical pencil erasers or the blue erasable pen erasers. As for the black erasers, I'm surprised somebody even bothered to invent them; they NEVER properly erase anything.

Mechanical pencils are like half-pencil half-pen. I personally use them only when I have a picky math teacher who refuses to grade my penwork or when I take machine-graded tests. Because I usually write with my left hand, the traces of the pencil graphite nearly cover the side of my hand after I write much with them. Pen ink is far less willing to stick to my skin and even after I write four times that much, I have at most a few specks and light/small smudges on the side of my hand.

As for correction, even the best of pencil erasers leave a dark smudge on the paper after use. I think the final work looks neater to be written in pen and have errors crossed out (or even whited out) than to be written in pencil and have dark smudges across the paper. That's not even considering that the higher contrast of most pen inks to the paper makes it easier to read in the first place.

Uh it's the size of the pencil lead, I guess. Haven't you ever used a mechanical pencil before? ::)

.07 Papermate Mechanical Pencils.
I have those. :o They're so awesome and I got these really colourful ones. I love them. D: Actually I lost all of them except one. Wait no, people kept asking me if they could use a pencil and they never game them back. They never no. :'( Remind me to bring regular pencils to school to give to people who ask for one so that I dun lose my awesome mechanical pencils. ;-;
