Now the Internet Channel has been updated with Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 (that corresponds to Adobe Flash Version 8).

Also, I've noticed that it's faster to erase favorites as well.

The Internet Channel itself now costs 0 Wii Points, meaning it's free from now on...

Oh, did I mention that if you got angry for the channel being free now when you bought it for 500 Wii Points, Nintendo will be offering the opportunity to download 1 NES game for free at the end of October? This is sweet.

Thoughts about the update?

It's a good update. But who in their right mind actually paid for it? :\

Not me. I got it back when it was free. I only used it a couple times though. And my wii has been unplugged for months now.

My right mind paid for it. I got my Wii late in April.

I did. I didn't think they make it free.
Then I bought a DSi and noticed the internet browser was free, so I figured it would only be a matter of time before they sold the Wii's browser for free.
YEAH

You silly kids you. I imagine it's going to take them a poopload of time to figure out who deserves the game download, and who doesn't. I'm also confused as to how they intend on limiting it to NES games. But eh.

So_So_Man

perhaps it will be a specific previously unavailable nes game

Got it for free, used it once.
It's a stupid channel since the Wii is so darn slow. Not to mention my PS3 has a better browser @_@;;

BTW, if you have a wireless router don't you just have the normal internet ANYWAY? X_X:;

For lots of people, a Wii might be more convenient than using their PC. A few reasons it could be useful are that:
  • Viewing the internet on a big TV instead of a computer screen, for things like showing videos to others. Most people wouldn't even know that many PCs are capable of such use.
  • The Wii and a computer being in separate rooms
  • Having only a single household family computer which is in use by somebody else
  • Certain pointer-based flash games might be easier or something like that

If you have your own unshared computer, that pretty much eliminates most of that. Which is why it seems so useless to you, even more so because you have a laptop.

A DSi browser might remove flash capability and TV screen, but the portability of a pocket system that can browse at any Wi-Fi hotspot is obviously the primary thing it has going for it which is useful to more people than Wii's browser.

I thought of those things but I just figured anyone who would get serious use out of it would be kids, in which case they should be monitored in the first place. But whatever.
