Was there a Mega Man X cartoon on TV or something?
I ask this because I've been playing Mega Man X: Collections, and X3 and X4 (possibly more after, I don't remember when I played in the past) have weird cutscenes, like a cartoon, and for some reason it seems like they are taking it out of an existing cartoon or something, or were they just lazy and made cartoon cutscenes?

Only cutscenes, dude. There IS a Megaman cartoon (resembling the normal series, NOT the one with the meme).

And now, one of NSF's resident Mega Man X dorks is here to explain.

Those are nothing more than cutscenes. Mega Man X3 was originally released on the SNES, but was later ported to the Playstation with rearranged music, and animated cutscenes (Most notably the intro). Mega Man X4 told its story through animated cutscenes, which isn't that bad, if the dubbing wasn't so bad. Later games in the series dropped it, except for the remake of X1.
That was more explanation than was really required

And then it got ported into an X game collection to the GameCube.

Ah... Well it wouldn't be so bad if X didn't sound like he was 4 and Zero didn't sound like he was 12, I always pictured them with a deeper voice, I mean, they try to make them look badass, why not give them a more badass deep voice?
Also, the lips were rarely synced with the voice...

Maverick Hunter X doesn't tell the story through anime cutscenes. You unlock a pretty awesome anime movie from beating the game though that helps illustrate crap that was only in the freaking' manual of the original Mega Man X game.
