I've got $300 to spend, with $1800 coming in the next two months, and my parents can tap into that sum of money any time they want. How do I spend it?

Invest in a PSP

Invest in a PS3

Don't spend any of it and start buying parts for a new computer..

Save it for the 3DS

☢ CAUTION ☢ THIS TOPIC MAY CONTAIN GREED. ☢ CAUTION ☢

Yeah, I kind of don't know what to do. From Christmas, I have $120, and because the government is doing something to help our family out right now or something, I'm getting a hefty sum of money to splurge here and there. I think I should take this opportunity to invest in a new console now...but I'm on the fence about my choices here, and don't know what to spend the money on.

I was considering buying a PSP, for ONE game, but it's not really worth buying a handheld just for one game alone, no matter how good it is. Maybe there are other games that would interest me, but nothing that I'm actively considering buying the PSP for. Not to mention, the next PSP is on the horizon, somewhere, so it's silly to buy one at this point.

Then I came to the conclusion, "If I'm going to invest at least $170 in a Sony product, I may as well go all the way and invest in that PS3 I've wanted since '09.", which I COULD go for. There's more games on the PS3 than there are on the PSP that I'm interested in, and some games my brother won't let me play on his 360 that I could buy for the PS3. The problem with buying either is he'd be ticked at me for buying a PSP, and possibly furious for buying a PS3, since he finds it redundant to have a PS3 and a 360.

Or, I could refrain from buying anything altogether and wait for the 3DS comes out so I KNOW I can buy it and still have money to fall back on. Plus, I'll theoretically still have some cash to spend on any launch titles that interest me.

And of course, there's that computer I've been meaning to get. This computer that I use, right now, is a shared one, and has a lot of poop on it. As a result, it's slow as intercourse , and I'm being denied upgrading it at all, and it can barely run anything at this point. So I decided to work on BUILDING my own computer (read: work with my uncle who will build a computer with the parts I purchase), and now that I'm starting to get money, I can finally start buying parts for it. And every time I tap into those government funds, the longer I'll have to wait before I can use another computer, and the less I'll have to fall back on.

tl;dr: mildly interested in a PSP, or rather the one game on that system. Want a PS3, but it'll cripple my wallet for at least a month and my bro will be pretty mad. Save for the 3DS, and don't get any systems at all, or start investing in an improved, faster computer. Only have money for one option, and I don't know which to go for.

So NSF...do you think you can help me decide how to spend this cash? Thanks in advance.

Flip a coin, not because it decided the question for you. But in that brief moment before you catch it, you know what it is you really want.

PS3 is the best choice. It's got a mix of everything you'd want concerning games, media, whatever. Highly recommend that.

PSPs are excellent for hacking. They have released a hefty number of good games for it recently, though.

MYL, the 3DS is having Ocarina of Time, a Star Fox remake, and some more games...

Yeah, save for a 3DS and games.

Tuppy frightens me with his knowledge of legacy technology.

hmm, well if you're just going to buy the PSP for one game, then it won't really be worth it.

i'll have to agree with this. i've seen a few things that a PS3 can do and have to agree with the number of games availible to play on it

yeah, but it's very unlikely that they could ever match up with the original games though...
that aside, the 3DS is still a pretty good choice to. I've heard from Gamestop that you could preorder one at this point(which i hope to manage after okamiden and PKMN White) though it'll be somewhere around $300 dollars or more in the end.  As for the computer, i honestly can't be sure unless you're using a dinosaur of a computer
So from my standpoint, it's 45% each for the 3DS and PS3, and 10% for the computer

Computer.

Unless you plan on getting one for a graduation present, this is the best option. For school and onwards through life.

Oh Vesperia, never change... never change

Neerb

THREE DEE ESS FOR THE LOVE OF CHRISTMAS.

Or a faster computer.

Oh boy, is that ever true.

I didget wither Budokai 3 or Sly 3. I flipped Sly 3, but I bought Budokai 3.

PORTABLE OCARINA OF TIME! You know you don't want to turn your back to it.

Bro, listen up. Real talk. I bought a PSP, it honestly isn't that great. I got like 50 games for it, I hardly play any of them.
PS3 has no games, you know that bro. You don't need next gen consoles.
But the 3DS. That is some real good gosh darn poop. I wish I had the cash for that. I want that thing so badly. Make it happen bro.

Good job! I, Viewtifulboy, declare you the CHAMPION!

I'm the official winner of the Viewtiful Victory roleplay championship!

I would say, if not the computer, to save for the 3DS. Out of PSP and PS3, well as you know, I'd pick PSP. But out of the four choices there both PS3 and PSP are at the bottom.

Depends on how much you have (I think you mentioned $350 to me yesterday, but that's different than what you said in this thread), I'd make sure you have enough for the 3DS and whatever games you want on it. Plus, don't forget B/W are coming out if you wanna get one of those.

And after you buy all your 3DS stuff, then start putting money down for a computer.

I really hate how I've made more than 12,000 posts here. Thankfully this swaying, moving Chandelure makes it all worth it.

I dunno.  I use my PSP daily to watch movies at work.  I haven't gamed on it in a while, but I'm thinking about waiting a little while and grabbing God of War: Ghost of Sparta.  Chains of Olympus was great.  Disgaea was great, and I'm also considering getting it's sequel.  Metal Gear Portable Ops was great, Peace Walker was alright.  FFVII is downloadable, if that's one of your favorites.  Tactics was pretty good, but chances are you've played it on at least one other system.  Patapon was interesting.  A lot of people really loved Loco Roco.  I thought Lego Batman was good for what it was.

Remember, if you get a PSP, one of the first things you're going to want to buy is a decent Memory Stick.  Just something else that might factor in to your choice.

Mmmm Budokai 3.  Fuck Tenkaichi and everything else that came out after it.

All right, thanks for helping me figure out what to invest in, guys. I'll put some money aside for the 3DS and wait.
